Default Racing seats question...

I am getting to the stage where I want to put some racing seats in my car(not buckets). What all needs to be done to put a set in? And does anyone have any suggestions as to what brand (I need something a little cost effective). But yeah I am totaly at a lost of what I need...roll cage, special brackets, etc. I would like to run a 4 or 5 point harness.

Aluminum race seats are very reasonable and can be picked up at Summit in Sparks usually cheaper than you can get them shipped from elsewhere.

I have one in my garage that has been waiting to be installed for 2 years or so...

I wouldn't put something that inflexible in unless I had a roll bar. That is my excuse.

Once you go that way, 5-6 ponts are best.

Didn't he say no racing buckets?

Yup, I gotta stay away from racing buckets (aluminum seats). My car will be maintaining a touring feel. Im just wondering about brand...like cusco, bride, etc. And like I said, I don't know if I need a rollcage etc. I have no idea what I need in short.

Sorry, misread that. Thought you wanted racing seats, not street seats. I read "bucket" as bucket seats like the stocks are called, not the other way around.

So you want reclining performance seats? How much money you got?

That's a pretty good option. The rails will be wrong though... I think the only way to get rails for the SVX is to have 'em custom made. But that works out for Tyson anyway since sybir needs some rails for his Recaros IIRC.

word, my seats are exactly what you are looking for.

I just have to buy some stockers which I have a source for in CA, just have to drive over there.

Let me know if you need help.

And, yeah, if someone buys the seats and doesn't need the rails, I'm interested, as I'm about to order some....

Your floor brackets are the ones for height-adjustable sliders, right?
Two rods running fore and aft that tabs on the sliders bolt to?

Well the passenger seat has only been sat in a couple times. These seats are in excellent condition.

If sperry is really selling his seats than I can have these out of my car when he gets back, whenever that is.

I'll pm you price.

I can sell my seats just as soon as I get my car finished (needs a turbo and tuning), and back up to Reno. I gotta order up some racing shells for it, so I can't sell my seats until those are installed.

Well, I decided to go with some Corbeau, but thank you very much for the offer tyson ^_^. I was just looking for something a little bit lighter.

Wait, how much weight are you saving by going w/ the Corbeau's over the Sparcos? 10 lbs?

If you're really trying to save weight you need carbon/kevlar shells. And even then, the SVX has about 1200 lbs in interior and extraneous sheet metal to be removed before the 30 lbs difference between seats and shells is significant.

Yeah, if you want reclining seats, you're not saving enough weight to really make it worth it, unless you just plain like the Corbeaus you got better.

Well the corbeau seats are lighter, look better, and are much cheaper. I decided to go with some fixed back seats too, because in all honesy I don't really need them to recline.
