OK, while I'm picking up used parts, I'm thinking of doing the vaned rear rotor upgrade on my WRX...
A pretty good thread on it is here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...+brake+upgrade The likelyhood of findin a wrecked '05 LGT is pretty slim, so I'm thinking about the 10.5" LT since there should be some of those. What years was the Legacy Turbo made prior to the GT in '05? The way I read this, the parking brake should still work, right?

OK, If I looked at the specs right on the archives http://www.cars101.com/subaru_archives.html
The 10.5" vented rears were on the 91-94 Legacy Turbo Sport/touring Sedan/Wagon... Right? Except for the '05, this is the only vented rear I could find on the Legacy.

Crap... It looks like there are basically, NO trackable brake pads ilable for the 91-94 Legacy Turbo rear calipers... Ok, it wasn't an exhaustive search, but nothing from hawk, or Porterfield or Axxis I could find.
Scratch that idea... Don't know if there are any for the new GT... Nick?

Rear pads? Yeah, you can find carbotech pads (race and street) and I think Hawk are becoming available too.

Actually, the '05 GT pads appear to be the same 770 shape as the 02 WRX, so my assload of pads that I already have will work... Cool.
Now I just need a wrecked '05 GT... Why aren't those brakes on any of the other cars damnit...

Dean, have you looked into the "H6" brake upgrade? IIRC, the H6 rear rotors are like 11" non-vented, but really work well with WRX fronts (which the StopTechs are almost the equivalent of due to piston sizing) as far as brake torque. The larger rotor should be a much better heat sink, and since they're off the Legacy Outback (IIRC) they will be much more available than LGT or LT rear brakes.

I did, but I'm not sure I want to spend any money on another solid rotor. LGT using the same pads is s big plus, but I'm not going to spend over $600 for new parts...

subaruwrxparts.com sells the upgrade kit for $445, and that includes stock pads, which you can probably get them to remove from the order for you.
