So has anyone else watched the Rome series on HBO? The 2nd season started this week. I think it's an excellent show - seems decently grounded in real history, the plot got me sucked in (even though the large events are no surprise if you've ever read a history book), and watching such a vibrant, interesting representation of life over 2000 years ago is really fascinating to me.

If anyone has even a smidge of interest in ancient history, it's a must see.

I've been wanting to see it, but only recently got HBO. Is it worth watching the 2nd season now, before watching the 1st season on DVD or whatever?

You should really watch it through from the beginning to understand what's happening.

I watched season 1 and loved it, the season 2 premier was great this last weekend, so should be another great season.
