hola fellas.
the meet tonight was fun it was my first one but ill be back haha. this year in autox im gonna race novice but next year i have some questions. in street prepared when it says boost control systems must remain stock, would a utec count as a modified boost control system? could i just put it back to the stock map for autox to run in sp? i want to run stx but i have a catless exhaust and you have to have 1 downstream cat. what do i need to take to the first autox? im excited for it.

You must be reading old rules, because boost changes are now legal in Street Prepared. As I understand it, you may use either an MBC or electronic means to adjust boost. But for this year of course, you can do whatever you want.
List all of your mods, anything that's not stock and we can tell you if you'd be eligible for Street Prepared in the future.

Also, the only thing you'll need to bring to the first auto-x is your car and money to cover the entry fee. A helmet would be nice if you have one that is Snell 2000 or 2005. Otherwise, loaner helmets are available. Also, make sure to dress for the conditions. Usually its really hot and windy, and you're standing in the sun for quite a bit. But, early in the season it can be just the opposite. It'll be cold and windy (and possibly snowing).
http://www.renoscca.com/Solo%202/Sur...%20revised.htm Here is a guide from the Reno SCCA on what to expect on your first time out.

2nd, you're going to have to take off the I/C spray, it's illegal in all classes unless it's OEM equipment. Since the WRX never came w/ a sprayer, you can't have one. Assuming the brakes are legal, you're in ESP.

the brakes are the stoptech stage 2 kit. the rotors are the same size i believe they were exact boltons and the calipers are still the subaru ones.
for the i/c spray could i just disconnect power to it when i ran or take out the switch or something to that effect? is esp above or below stx? would a snell 2005 helmet be sufficient for running the timetrails next year when i turn 18? does it matter if its M2005 or SA2005

Take the water tank out of the I/C sprayer... that's what I did back when I had one on my WRX. ESP and STX are similar classes... they just have slightly different rulesets... the biggest being that STX doesn't allow changes from the factory boost map. I believe you will need an SA rated helmet for TT... I'm not 100% sure, but why in the world would you want to run a motorcycle helmet in a car? You head is kind of important. ![]()

Our region has always allowed M-rated helmets for tracdk use, however, if you're buying one I would 100% recommend an SA helmet. It's especially important for people with roll bars or cages int heir cars, as the difference between M and SA helmets is that M-rated helmets are designed to disappate a single massive impact, while SAs are supposed to withstand multiple smaller impacts from banging your head against your roll bar repeatedly in a rollover.

And frankly, I don't understand why anyone would pay $200 to hit the track, but not $200 for a new SA rated helmet. If you can't afford the proper safety equipment, you can't afford to go racing. An M helmet is passable as a temporary solution for autocross, but really, get an SA2005 if you plan on competing.
