Yeah, sounds like they screwed up the bleeding.

Depends on who "they" was. If it was someone who was paid to refill the brake fluid, you go back to them and tell them to actually fix it this time. If it was the owner, you do a little internet gumshoeing, find the real brake bleeding procedure for a 2000 Audi A6, and you and/or the owner does it right this time.

Usually when you suck air in from the top while bleeding (*cough* Kevin!) it just means you've got to pick the shortest line in the car and bleed, and bleed, and bleed, until all the air is out. Then pick the next shortest, and repeat, then on to the next longest, etc, until you've bled out all the air from the whole system. It's likely going to waste a few cans of fluid, unless you've got a *really* clean collection can and are willing to recycle the bled fluid back into the reservoir.

You'll need to look up the proper bleeding sequence online to really make sure you get it right. Doing it out of order can lead to leaving air in the system that makes the pedal soft. Also, don't rush the process... nice slow pumps on the pedal make a huge difference in the quality of the job when you're all done.

I'm not sure, but on the Audi's you may have to have the ignition on so the ABS gets purged during bleeding, and if it is a manual, you may have to bleed the clutch as well. It may have a common reservoir.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THIS IDEA!!!!!!!!!!! ABS systems make a LOT of pressure. Some systems, when the ABS motor is running, can fire a stream of brake fluid out of a bleeder strong enough to cut right through you. Literally.

Make sure you have to correct service procedure to bleed them.

I think you just invented a budget water-jet CNC machine.

Frighteningly, that's exactly what ends up happening... I've seen experiments where they cut clean through 2x4" wood blocks with brake fluid streams!
