Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss, you'll still be among the stars
Default P2096

I got tuned by Matt last Tuesday. I love the tune, the car feels smoother, there's more power, and i FINALLY have cruise control back after over two years without it. Sunday evening, I was driving home from Super Burrito, and my cruise kicked off and my cel was back. Sumbitch. So, I went to see Matt today to see what the code was. It was P2096. I'm pretty sure he just cleared it and reset my ecu. Afterwards, my car was idling poorly, like it was before the tune. I assumed it was just because the ecu had just been reset, so I drove away. After driving down to carson to vote, the cel came back on, and my car still idles like shit. It idles super low and dies at about every other light/stop sign, which apparently are abundant around here, which I hadn't noticed until my car wouldnt idle... I haven't had it checked yet, but I'm assuming it is P2096 again. The most helpful link i can find on google, from nasioc:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1131438

Specifically:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...83&postcount=6

I've always had a cel after going catless two summers ago, so I never paid much mind to it, assuming it was P0420, without ever actually getting it checked. I had to extend my rear O2 sensor wires to fit in the new trackpipe. From reading that nasioc thread, it seems that this may be the culprit, although I never had an idling issue until recently, which I assumed was due to a bad front O2 sensor that I replaced the weekend before my tune.

Mods:
borla replica uel header
full catless headerback
delta 1000 cams
injen intake (with freshly cleaned filter and MAF, thanks cory )
lwfw
others that shouldn't affect cel's

Has anyone had any experience with this code before? I'd love to get some suggestions before I start shelling out cash to start replacing parts. I'm leaning towards a bad rear O2 sensor, but I assumed it would have its own code? If anyone could clear that up too, that would be helpful.

It looks like it is specifically rear O2 sensor.

Maybe your extension cable is bad or intermittent? Check resistance along the circuit from the sensor to ECU.

It worked for a week, so I would lean electrical fault.

You should get the new CEL read, because I defeated the P2096 and 97 codes and reflashed it (which also reset it). Bring it by and I will read the CEL, and check the rear O2 for proper operation. The only reason I didn't really check it yesterday was an assumption that the codes just needed to be defeated. Bad assumption I guess...

Seems to be the theme of this tune... I assumed you just cleared them and reset it, because you said sometimes that's all they needed. Ok, I'll bring it by on Thursday. I guess I apologize for the wasted thread

Don't worry, Cory has gone over this with us a few times... and he wasn't even there when I needed to get my cel cleared...
