Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default #1 reason Mike beat me at Auto-X: Broken FSB!

Look what I found while changing the oil...

Snapped right at the driver side bushing at the retaining collar weld.

No wonder the damn thing would not turn and the front tires were screaming even when I wasn't turning very hard.

Anybody got a spare 1" STI Front Sway bar?

That's a good one. I was going to use that excuse when Cody beat me last year, but held off.

Wait, the retainer is welded on the swaybar? Why would they do that when a clamped on retainer should work as well without creating a nice failure point?

I thought I had a 22mm whiteline bar in my garage, but it's not there, so I must have sold it to someone and forgot.

I agree. Bad design, but it did have over 8K track miles on it.

Don't know what to do before Sat.

Stocker
Strano
Punt?

Tough choice there.

What kind of bar is that? Perrin or Hotchkis?

I have a different excuse:

Hotchkis

I went with the stock bar. Was missing the sub frame brackets for the Strano. I definitely miss the stiffer bar, but it was way better than with the broken one.

How long has it been broken? I remember you mentioning how loose the car felt at the last track day. You think it may have been broken since then?

Don't know for sure, but yes,it has been handling off since some time after I got it running again. last track day, it wouldn't turn very well. Lots of front tire noise. Much better now, with just the stock bar, but inside front still talking more than usual.

Power on oversteer was first event, definitely not been that since then.

Did you really have a busted front sway?

Here's my autocross failure from yesterday.

I was so glad when I took off the IC and found this failure of the GP Moto Y pipe I've been running for around 7 years. I was glad it wasn't something more expensive since I had to have the car towed home from the autocross. I ordered Samco replacement IC hoses and Samco radiator hoses too since mine are original and soft.

Um, yes! Did you not see the picture in the first post?
Bummer on the blown hose, but at least an easy fix.

I know. I'm surprised it didn't make a noticeable "pop".
