I checked out both DT and ER. . . for a set of 225/45/17, ER seems cheaper overall right now. At DT, it's $120/tire ($480), plus $12 for valve stems, a $4 "environmental fee," and $38 in NV state sales tax. Ground shipping is free. $534 total.
Edge Racing, on the other hand, is charging $112/tire ($44 ![]() I am curious about Discount Tire's "Certificates for Free Replacement," though - with the way tires get worn while autocrossing, is that even worth it?

Unless you buy solid aluminum stems, your installer should include stems, don't pay DT for them.
ER does not include any valve stems, and you can just remove them from the DT order. Tax, and EF are becasue they have a store in LV, so they have to charge NV fees. So the result is $522 DT vs. $519 ER. The DT advantage is that they come from NV, or Arizona instead of Florida. Actually, the best deal right now is from Vulcan Tire. www.vulcantire.com They are a good shop that specialies in motorsports tires as well. $112ea. + $46 shipping from Salt Lake, so $494 to your door and probably 1-2 days max shipping.

Do you mean "no fun" with regards to tracking issues. I definately do not want a ride like the yokohama r compounds gave me.
So for daily driving the azenis will suck? |

I think the tendency of the 615s to follow the road contours etc. would make them somewhat annoying on a daily driver in addition to the stiffness. Think about how your STI feels on the RE070s on the area roads. The lower tighter C4 will probably feel worse especially with the stiff sidewalls.
Now if you have 2 sets of rims, and are thinking about autocrossing the C4, that's a different story. 615s all the way! What sizes does the C4 use, and we can look what's out there for it.

How much you want to spend, and I am assuming 3 season use. For cheap, the Continental ContiSportContact 2 looks like the answer. Make sure you get the ZRs so they match front/rear. (These at some point were teh Porsche OE tire/) Next step up are the Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetricos which may be ideal for that car. Last, but not least, and only a hair less aggresive than the 615s would be the New Advan Neovas, but they are pricey. I'd probably pick between the Rosos and the Conti's depending on my budget.

I've posted this on some porsche forums with one response from someone that has the upsized tire with no issues and they agreed with me with regards to the diameter. The neova's are also on sale, but much more pricey than the azenis. |

I hear you Dean. My STI was miserable on the streets with those A032R's.
I know I am definately getting them for the STI's BBS wheels for track days. I'll give them a try to see if I put them on the Porsche. |
