Where can I dispose of all this ATF? - Subaru Enthusiasts Car Club of the Sierras

Kragen took all my used oil I had sitting in the garage (20+ gallons), but they don't take ATF. I have 2 or 3 gallons of it and I don't want to hide it in a black garbage bag and throw it in the trash (or anything else environmentally repulsive). Anybody know what I can do with it?

Um... Kragen took my ATF in the past... maybe because it was in the same waste containers as the oil I was giving them and they didn't bother to notice?

Yea I always take my oil to Kragen too, but I'm in the same boat as Scott since all of my waste is mixed.

You can dump it down a storm drain as long as you chase it with some vodka. Watch out for the clown though.

There is a place on Murietta Way in Sparks called Clean Harbors Industrial. They take the fluids that the dump, Kragen, etc will not take. You are required to pay a fee, but at lest you can get rid of it properly. I had to take a shit load of brake fluid there.

Turns out I know somebody who works there. He said he'd take it for nothing (usually 80 cents/pound).

Next time I'll just mix it all together before I go to Kragen.

Anything you buy that will later become toxic waste should have a tax on it that goes to making it simple to recycle it. This is how CA does Televisions. 'Course, I bought my old 27"CRT TV in CA and it died here. When I took it to the dump, I expected them to have a place for me to put it to be recycled. I was told by an employee to simply toss it in the pit. Awww, NV.
