Default Paint Protection

While many of you were at the Bar-B-Q yesterday, I was out washing the car for the first time in a few weeks. I have about 2800 miles on my WRX and notices a few small rock chips on the front!

Matt, (and a few others?), have put that plastic/vinyl stuff on the front. May I have the name and contact information for this place as I want to save my paint as well.

I have read, on other boards, that Subaru paint isn't the best in the business. Oh well, I'd rather have paint that may chip than a perfect finish in a car that sucks!

Also, what is there to do while the guy is applying this stuff? Would my daughter be bored stiff or should I go alone?

Thanks,

Franz

It takes a few hours, and your daughter *will* be bored. Hell, I was there just to watch Matt's car get finished up, and *i* was bored!

Matt's got the contact info for the AutoShield guy. He's a really cool guy, down in Rancho Cordova (Sac).

Hey Franz,

I would recommend Autoshield in Rancho Cordova (Sac Area).

To schedule apt, call Dave at 1-800-964-2007 or dave@getautoshield.com

their website is www.getautoshield.com

No, there is really nothing to do in the area while the job is getting done, it in an industrial/ business park area, so not real close to anything.

Thanks for the quick replys.

Matt, when you had yours done, did you have any chips in the paint yet? I am wondering if I should touch mine up before I do this.

Also, is it faster to just drive down 80 cut over to this place or go down 50

Franz

I answered part of my own question. According to Yahoo Maps, one can take 80 and exit Sunrise and take it south to the place. Probably save an hour over taking 50.

Cut across from 80 to 50 on Sierra college parkway or highway 49, Sunrise takes forever.

I want to get this done too. So, there's no one around here who does this kind of work, or is it because Dave at autoshield is really really good?

When were sitting in the Shop I pondered the idea of a detail shop in Reno that could do this.

And After Zaino'ing(expensive waxing) my car today I see how much work it takes.

But I think a Shop here could do well with this kind of work.

Thats why I don't wash my car too often. Too many chips and scratches that always bug the heck out of me.

Its like I almost want to drive down to Line-x to see how much it would cost to do my whole car (or maybe just the bumpers).

he does a really good job, I'm not sure of anyone in reno, but I'm sure someone does it. Dave is a friend from Burning Man, so I send everyone there that asks.

fwiw - I called Trimline on Monday, and got a quote of about $1,000 (which did not include the headlights) for my car.
