Default Need help on Subaru decision

I have decided to sell my talon and galant to save for an Impreza. I have lots of ideas floating around but I wanted to put some of them in writting and get some feedback.

I dont want to spend the money on a STi, and I dont really like the way the WRX looks. So a 97-00 2.5RS is my weapon of choice. I do however want it to be turbocharged, the smart way. I wouldnt feel right boosting a N/A motor so I had though about getting the 2.5L worked to a lower compression for forced induction. I havent thought too much into detail about this yet, but like I said, Im just throwing ideas out there.

My second idea was to do an EJ20 swap. Pretty expensive for the power but it would be fun.

What do you guys think?

This is a tough spot to be in right now. I really want to keep my galant but I still live at home. I have a honda I drive daily. Im paying $88 for storage for the galant each month, and I only payed $500 for the car. Im loosing alot of money on it, thats the only reason Im thinking of selling it. I dont know...

An RS in good condition goes from between $8000 for a '98 to $12000+ for an '01. The lack of supply of them keeps the price high (I can't wait until the day my '01 RS is worth more than an '02 WRX... suckas!!).

Because of that, if you're planning on messing with the motor anwyay, I would just aim for an older Impreza, which shouldn't be too hard to find in decent condition for $5-7000. Then you can use it daily while you save up for a motor swap. Trust me on this, it's not worth messing with putting a turbo kit on the EJ25 or EJ22. Just go straight to the best solution.

I had thought about an older impreza, like you said. If I went that route I would want to swap 2.5rs body parts on it, I just love the way they look. What year range should I start looking at?

Imprezas start at '93. Just make sure you get a 5 speed AWD and the other swap options get a lot easier.

How much for the Galant?

I'd go with an older L too or buy a car that's already swapped. How much you looking to spend?

Tim if you sell that car i'll tell everyone you sold out and we'll have a stabing party. Just sell your dam 2g and keep the vr4 at your house. Think about it, if you build a classic impreza with a ej20, your going to need a place to keep it, just like the galant. you'll have to barrow more money for the impreza, you'll have to save money for the ej20, find a shop that'll do the swap, pay labor. the galant needs a rebuild, whats a rebuild kit for dsm cost 8-900 dollars to have a awd, aws, 4g63, one of only 3 thousand in the united states, you dumb bastard

Ya but then you are ho'd with an old box of a DSM instead of a sleek and sexy Impreza.
