Default non profit organization

We are not a "street racing crew". We are a not-for-profit organization made up of Subaru Enthusiasts. In fact we specifically endorse keeping the racing off the streets and on the race track, even to the point where we help organize legal race events and track days.

Being a non profit organization does that mean i can do my community service for the seccs??? i was doing it at FISH but i am sick of cleaning up after bumbs!!! let me know because i could realy use some service ours.

I doubt it. We're not a charity, and we're not "non-profit", we are a "not-for-profit" business which means we provide a service (organization of meetings for subaru enthusiasts) and can charge for providing that service, but only as long as we spend all the money we make towards providing our service.

If someone "donates" to the club, they can't write it off as a charity donation on their taxes. Likewise, I'll bet you can't fulfill community service debts by working for SECCS.

Usually, that's not the point of "community service".

Are you going for Eagle Scout or something, or are you "paying a debt to society"?

Yeah... when I was 17, here's the car I got:

1986 Ford Escort 5-door. Mine was white. Slow. Automatic. I had to *add* a tape deck to it.

Best part was that it kept me from killing myself. When they raised the speed limits from 55 to 65, it effectively kicked me off the freeway, since the car had a "vibration limited" top speed of about 60mph.

I was 20 before I owned a car. And then it was a freakin' 95 Ford Ranger swb 4 cyl. At least it was a 5 speed.

Well, good luck with that car. Try not to kill yourself in it (a friend of mine sailed off a cliff in high school because he was driving like an assclown... it was weeks before they found the body & wreckage).

Well, I had the Escort for 6 months, then I went away to college, and left the car for my sister who promptly drove it into the ground. It wasn't till I was 19 that I got my own car for good. An '88 Acura Legend L. Not a bad car. Bought it myself for $6000 and did $1000 worth of work on it right away (new brake master cylinder & new alternator).

At least it was a 5-speed - that's how I learned to drive a manual.

Weird.

I never wrecked mine, but Pyramid Lake can do a lot of damage on those roads.
