Don't you still have to be under 95 dB?
You realize how loud that is, right? Matt's straight pipe probably came in around 93 dB.

I've never had any problems at GK, and I take everything I have there. The Stealth just passed Sat.

Your car is OBD2, so you will be done in 5 minutes, tops. Don't sweat it.

The key for pre OBD2 cars is to make sure they are very warm. AKA, must have been running for at least 30 minutes, preferably with some spirited acceleration to get the cat(s) hot IMHO.

The stealth(Non-OBD2) barely passed last year because I just drove down there, figuring the 5-10 minutes warm up would be enough... It required a second warm up pass at 2500 RPM to barely squeek by the idle test.

This year, it passed at less than 50% of the allowed bad stuff, and I barely drove the car for those 12 months. The key was warming it up in the driveway for an hour(Mostly to melt the 2" of ice off of it, and then driving it for about 15 minutes including some high boost segments before taking it in.

I want to bolt it on to my new Downpipe and see what happens!

Yeah, you have to be REALLY loud to break that 95 dB mark...

We should get a meter still, it will be fun. We can test our exhaust volumes...Like in high school when we got a hold of the breath-a-lizer and tried to see how high we could get it... (.19 if you're curious)

I don't know about that. Mike and I were at a stop light together after the last meet. We both revved our cars, and I swear his sounded louder than mine. What did you think Mike?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Perrin is louder, but the tone is different with the two, so it is hard to compare...

I drove Jason's STi when my exhaust was on it, and it was indeed loud, but I think Mike's is loudest...My straight pipe was just stupid loud..

Reno SCCA has a sound meter. We will have to remember to get it out at an event this year.

That may be due to my headers. My exhaust tone definately is not as deep as it was prior to the header install.
