That's pretty funny, even though they are a bunch of unemployed hippies with nothing better to do than drive their shit ass cars arounds and piss people off.

I think they are forgetting the point though. there is a slow lane for people who choose to go the speed limit, and a fast lane for those who choose to travel faster. Sure 55 MPH is lame in most cases, but that's life.

I didn't watch it with the sound on, so I don't know what they were saying, but if their whole goal was to demonstrate that people speed by blocking traffic, then they're IDITOS.

Like Matt said, there are multiple lanes for a reason. Sure tons of people break the limit, however, driving fast isn't inherrently unsafe, it just means there's more energy at work when something goes wrong. Having massive speed disparity between vehicles is what's unsafe... you know like driving 75 and coming up on some retard going 45 in the fast lane... having to swerve/weave/pass on the right. It's shit like that that gets people killed... not going 10 over the limit.

Proper lane discipline is the #2 thing (second to keeping drunks off the road) that we could do to make our highways safer. The reason that the autobahn works w/o a speedlimit is because people over there use the passing lane only for passing. You don't have to weave in and out of traffic to get somewhere.

In addition, those people are idiots for blocking traffic simply because of the road rage factor. How awesome would there little student film be if a one of those cars that passed them on the shoulder decided to swerve in to the group? Or better yet, pull out in front, block a few lanes then pull a handgun and start unloading into the hippies? Pretty fucking awesome if you ask me. Those that forget there are some unstable people out there are apt to be a little surprised when their antics set one of 'em off.

Finally, blocking traffic like that is illegal. How do they know that in that back somewhere in the 3 mile traffic jam they created, there wasn't an ambulance trying to get somewhere? How do they know that there wasn't a chain reaction of speeders catching the traffic that caused a wreck. Fucking idealistic idiots. Thanks for teaching us something we all know already at the cost of a 1000 other people's inconvience.

If those idiots were following all the rules of traffic and not just the speed limit, that could not happen. That's the stupidest thing I have ever seen anyone do. "Hey let's drive the speed limit and disregard all other traffic laws to prove that the speed limit should be higher!" Great idea, retards. I haven't said this for a bit, but now I have a good reason to...fucking kids these days!!

Kinda boring, and self-indulgent. They must be art-school dropouts that envision themselves as some sort of modern life heros.

Doesn't really say anything that isn't already blatently obvious to anyone with half a brain.

While I drive above the MAXIMUM SPEED posted on most every road I travel every day, It is not illegal to drive below posted speed limits. There are the occasional posted MINIMUM SPEED signs in some states.

Now, I do agree that the lane changing/driving need to be strictly adheard to (slower traffic stay right), I think that their point that a speed limit needs to be raised in a particular area is valid (many roads and highways need to be re-examined when it comes to speed limits). Although same can't be said for all roads and highways. On another hand, they raised some other traffic law issues that can't be ignored, for example, following too closely. And when you add the unpredictability of human nature into the mix, all hell breaks loose with people passing on the shoulder and weaving through traffic. Road Rage is an eppidemic that I personally think is more dangerous than a group of people following the posted speeding laws.

Traffic where I'm living now is just rediculous, I hate the WA drivers for more reasons than they wrecked my RS. People absolutely freak out when they see highway patrol and slam on there breaks to the point of nearly locking'em up every time, Drive "slow" (speed limit) in the "fast lane" (passing lane) which is just plain rude and inconsiderate. It just makes me realize that when driving to just keep a calm and cool head while being very aware of my surroundings.

Those are some of my thoughts.

I will agree that OR and WA drivers are cautious to the point of danger. Last time I drove through Oregon, I was doing 70 in a 65 and blasting by people. They all give dirty looks too... I hate driving up there.

Not really. If you are significantly under the speed limit or flow of traffic (officers discretion), you can be pulled over for hazardous driving. Also, failing to yield to faster traffic is also illegal.

The minimum speed signs you see in some states is just a reminder of the rule. The absence of a min or max sign doesn't mean that you are free to drive any speed you want.

Nick, reading your signature, then read the last two posts.............I need sound effects!!

SLOWER TRAFFIC, STAY RIGHT. And yes 5-40 mph in a 55+ is hazardous, but highly unlikely that someone would drive that speed without reason, or would be given a ticket pending that reason (car trouble, scared grandma, etc...).

This one time, I was driving my old car, with two friends, and we were heading across the border for some french fries and gravy. Anyway, out of no where, this cop pulls me over and he's like:
Cop- "Do you know how fast you were going?"
Me- "65?"
Cop- "63!"

So you can indeed get pulled over for going too slow.

As a humorous ancedote, Rich in Sac is a CHP officer, and said he caught someone in the fast lane doing 65 and someone coming up on them doing 85. He cited the first driver for reckless and/or hazardous driving and failing to yeild to faster traffic. Then pulled the second guy over for speeding.

Regardless, it does happen (probably not as often, but it still happens). Most of the time, an officer will pull you over to make sure everything is okay and probably not give you a ticket, but it is still on the books as an illegal offense if they want to pursue that route.

Ive seen that tactic used in San jose so that two cars can race ahead with mostly clear road (illegal of course) ive also seen that same tactic used on 395 north right were that 50 mph sign is that tell every one that they need to slow down and all that and into the south side of reno. in fact i remember it was a chick in a minnie van and some dude in a green tacoma 4wd. i thought about doing the pass on the shoulder and then get in front and put on my brakes to separate them but honestly didnt do it cause i didnt want to cause an accident from the chain reaction it would cause with the hundred plus cars behind them! beside theres signs that say Slow Traffic Keep Right. In my opinion if theres anyone behind you thats less then two car lengths from you then your slow traffic even if your doing a 100mph!!

Speeding laws are discriminatory! They allow cops to pull over whoever they like for whatever reason!

That in itself is a huge problem as well......There is no correct speed!

I thought the highest speed limit in oregon was 55. I remember one of the Idaho people at winemucca last year saying that.
