I've seen it... the guy is using an F1 car. It's not that impressive... he clearly doesn't know the ring, as he's just driving down the center of the road almost the whole way in a stupid fast car. Hell, I've doen the ring in 7 minutes in a 350hp 1200kg car in that game. The F1 car should do it in about 4 to 4:30 IMO.

So far the 4rotor is my favorite car. Silly fast and not that hard to drive for something with so much power to weight. Oddly enough, I let the computer run a few laps of the 'ring in B-Spec... it can go around without incident set on 5 pace, but it only turns a 5:35. For some reason the computer doesn't like using your highest gear on long straights.

I got around Infineon about 3 seconds faster than the computer in the F1 car.

It would be interersting to watch it's laps at Sears. Does it throw away the exit of turn 3 to optimize 3a. Does it use every inch of the approriate berms, sometimes helping you rotate like turn 7. And does it almost drive accross the infield to maximize the exit of 11?

Eh, sorry for the broken link guys. Anywho, I agree - Scott, lets see you do it. Do you guys build cars yourself or do you just buy the pre-tuned cars? I built a ruf and ran a 1:20 at leguna. What do you guys normally get?

I've been running Infineon the most out of the actual racetracks. I'm down to like 1:10 in the F1 car, 1:30 in both the M3 GTR and M5, and about 1:35 in my "realistic" STi coupe. I mostly run on R5s though, because frankly it's just more fun to me.

I have turn progression memorized on most tracks, but I can never remember which corners are which. I can say that the computer makes healthy use of berms at a lot of tracks, but I don't think it's as specific as your turn 7 example. I was mostly making fun of the AI like Scott explained. And actually, my fastest two laps both had a miraculous stupidly fast stretch before the straight where the pit entrance is. The computer "ghost" was about a second ahead, and somehow my best replay just blows by it with like a 25-30 mph differential in the esses and I kept it on the track. The other issue is that it's *really* damn hard to be smooth when you are using an analog "wheel" that has about 1/4" of movement and a brake and gas pedal that are basically on/off switches. I'm too cheap to drop money on a wheel setup so I just accept the controller handicap and drive like a madman and get things like F1 cars and 787Bs and whatever I happen to be driving sideways several times a lap.
