Well, last weekend we camped out at Pyramid lake for one night. We had a few beers that night and made a nice neat pile near a tree of our bottles instead of throwing them in the fire. We then wake up the next day, realize its a beautiful day and have a few more beers near the lake. We go into town and pick up another 12-pack andhead back to our camp spot when we notice a Pyramid Lake Ranger going towards our camp. Thinking nothing of it, we continue down to camp. Then the origional ranger car and another drive right into our camp and start hasseling us.
They started off by asking for vehcile permits. We had one for both vehicles not knowing you need one per vehicle. Thats the first prob. Next, they call the police since they see alcohol. The cop arrives 1/2 hour later and gives everyone breatalizers. I end up blowing a .06 which is under the legal limit. So I just got slapped with a no permit ticket. My buddy then blew a .22. This was so off. He only had about 4 beers in a 3 hour time. So he blows again and it goes down to a .16. There must have been something wrong. Either way, the cop (who we think was drunk) gave him a MIP since he is under 21. Now to my question. The drunk cop (who also was spitting chew everywhere) wrote a total amount due on his ticket to be 38.00$. His ticket was supposed to be 380.00$ for bail. So should my buddy just attempt to pay the 38.00$ that is stated on the ticket or should he go to court and try and fight it? It looked kinda like this: Total Bail - 300.00$ Total filing - 70.00$ Total somethingorother - 10.00$ -------------------------------------- Total amount due - 38.00$ And it was clearly written. He signed right below that amount.

Pay the $38!! If they want more money, then fight it. They made a mistake and its their problem! You cant fight the fact that you guys didnt have alchahol while being under 21, so dont try. But pay the $38 and move on with your lives. Also.. you may mention the cop being drunk..

I also posted it on some other forums. There were some 21 year old there, so thank god none of us recieved contributing to minors.
Just 2 MIP's were issued. But one should be able to get out of it with the 38$ and the other is just screwed. She may have to do community service or something since it was her first offense ever...for anything.

Yeah, pay the $38.... if the say, "actually you owe us $380" that's when you go to court and say... "if the officer can't add up a list of number and get $380, how can he possible read the breathalizer?"
