So I was feeling ambitious today and decided to replace the stock speakers in the front. I had allread previously ordered the thick spackers 6.5 spacers from www.iaperformance.com ($37 with shipping). So I preped the spacers with flowable silicone to form a tight seal between the speakers and spacer and the spacer and the door panel. Let me just say that the actual removal of the door panels and installation was the easiest I have ever done. The job took me no more that 2 hours (Including the trip down to Kragen to get some spade connecters). Well anyways I had some top end Boston rx67 6.5 speakers from my previous vehicle (In fact I have two sets, mabey I'll try them for the rear doors, although I'll have to fab up my own spacers). Anyways the sound is great (here's the pics of my install). The space between the speaker magnet and the window is probably less that 1/8 in (so dont try to install deeper speakers with mounting depth more than 2in using the spacers i used). I just checked the clearance between the panel and the speaker (didn't make any measurements) but the spacers included longer plastic clips to move the door panel out further if needed (however I didnt use them). Questions? Comments?

No beer cans in the door panels?
![]() Nice. . . I'm saving my speaker upgrade till later, but it's good to know that I won't have to flip out removing the door panels.
