Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default Anybody got a hitch on their Impreza?

Thinking about picking one up for the move to get the Jetskis to LV.

Found a deal on a used Subaru one, but does not include any hardware.

Assume all the holes are there, i would just need some high strength metric bolts... Anybody got one, and remember how many bolts it came with and approximate sizes.

Just trying to see what it might cost me in beer for Cory to rummage through his bolt drawer.

Edit:

Forget it: I lost... People who pay over what you can get items for at discounted retail for used stuff amaze me.

No, I won't work on your car. F* your car

Rummaging throught the bolt drawer is free! Putting a hitch on a car not really designed to have one, is not...

Is to. You can get a factory Subaru class 1 hitch...

No drilling required, holes are all ther from the factory.

That's what I was bidding on.

The fact that the wiring harness is there on all cars '03+ is good enough for me though somewhere they do say it is only "reccomended" for the wagon.

WTF. the wagon has crappier everything,(no offense intended wagon owners) and more rear weight, how is that the reccomended car?

What's crappier on the wagon? It's better prepared for towing because it has stiffer rear springs and a slightly higher GVWR.

Dean, what sort of half-ass company do you work for that relocates you and requires you to haul your own shit to LV? When I moved from SLO to Reno, IGT paid for movers to come to my house, box everything up, load a truck, haul it to Reno, and unload everything for me.

They would have even moved my car and flown me to Reno if I hadn't told them I wanted to drive myself, and even then I got a mileage allowance.

Secondly, you have a truck w/ a hitch, why would you tow the jet skis with the Subaru? Are you planning on towing the Mercury w/ the truck, then flying back to tow the jet skis w/ the WRX, then flying back to drive the Dodge, then flying back to drive the Audi, then flying back to drive the STI?

Stiffer than an STI? Better brakes, more stable? I think not.

7, no 42....

They will move 1 car and a motorcycle, and I am expected to drive "the other" if under 500 miles which it is.

So, I have a trailer with the Mercury in it, a truck to tow that.

An STI, and an Audi at least, and a jetski trailer that weighs <2000 lbs with jetskis.

So assume they take the Audi and I drive the truck on the last trip.

I need a car in LV while I am bouncing back and forth, and the Jetskis have to get there somehow... Hmmm... Drive both down on Labor day sounds like a doable idea.

And I end up with a hitch to put bike racks, tires, etc. on, or resell for say 75-100% of my cost. because asshats on ebay will spend rediculous amounts of money on used s4!+.

I am frugal, and am trying to keep as much money the company is giving me for this move as possible within reason.

Dean, it'd be cheaper than the gas alone just to hire a car hauler to tow everything down in one trip, nevermind all the time it's going to take you to drive 4 cars and the cost of flights back.

No it wouldn't.

Trailer won't fit on a double decker, and can't be loaded when transported. All the stuff won't fit on a single single decker, and oh, they won't take the jetski trailer with jetskis on it.

1 way full airfare is $125, Cheap planned ahead rate is as low as $49. Try driving the truck back on $49 worth of gas.

So two 1 way trips assuming the WRX and Stealth sell. (On Craigslist, team3s, etc. now)

I am not an idiot. I actually have researched this...

Given the fact that there is no STi wagon, one can hardly compare the two.
