I have a bad feeling that Dr. Evil is behind this and they intentionally left out the quotation marks around accidentally.

I was playing HL2: Episode One not but twenty minutes ago.

I'm wondering how the machine will contain these blasts and the possible openings of a black hole? Also, what exactly will happen if a black hole opens? What kind of force draws things in to a black hole? Is it suction like puncturing a pressurized chamber or some odd reverse in gravity?

For the sake of feeling insignificant- http://atinyglimpse.ytmnd.com/

Ah hell. We're doomed. I kinda see this as one of those "can't leave well enough alone" situations.

I think making black holes should really wait until we have perfected the ability to relocate the entire population if they screw up.

Or better yet, can do the experiment somewhere way far away so if it goes wrong, it doesn't affect Earth.

Don't these people watch Star Trek, etc...

I love how Titor always pops up whenever there is some new scientific breakthrough or conflict in the world. "Look, Titor was right!!! Get out of teh cities!!1"

Personally I think the impending zombie plague is going to get us, not nuclear war.

Whether or not Titor is fake (and I'm pretty sure it's a hoax... check out the old Titor message boards where the super-geeks over analize the crap out of anything Titor posted), it's *very* entertaining and has a *ton* of stuff embedded in real physics, including the creation/use of micro singularities.

It's just good old fashioned gravity. It gets exponentially stronger as you get closer. I remember learning of a process called "spaghetification" which basically means objects get stretched out as they aproach the opening of a black hole.

See? There had to be a practical application for these.
