Default In car from a recent test and tune at Infineon Raceway

We have been working on our new suspension and chassis setup and got some decent in car footage last week that I thought I would share.

http://www.prodriveamerica.com/Special/GST.htm

Car spec's are much the same as before with the main mods being,

Stock STI motor (for testing purposes so we limit the miles on the race motor which is $$$$)
GT30r
275 BFG Goodrich R1
Prodrive Ohlins

Yea the other in car I have has a couple of different cars out there with us and Miata's, we got put in that group by default due to our car being classed as a sedan or something.

We got the test data we needed from it anyway so it's all good.

That's always been there, we plan to change some of the fixings on it in the next week or so but the dash will remain.

What did he think of the handling? It sounded like there was a lot of tire chirping going on during transients.

Best it's ever been I am informed, we were having some trouble with the tires we're testing with which may or may not be what your hearing.

Mike, if you're running a stock motor + GT30R, why does the car still sound like it's going into warp 9 when the turbo comes on? Is that just your exhaust? I always assumed that was a side effect of the bigger turbo and crazy race engine. Are you running an external wastegate pipe?

Well in this particular instance it's somewhat due to us having a huge leak at the manifold to uppipe (also knocked down our boost and power).

A lot of the noise is due to the GT30r's straight 4" inlet and the fact we only run a burns racing muffler that exists under the car.

Car looks like it is doing great.

It is refreshing to see a car on line at Infineon, especially at the exit of 5 and 8A. I notice he isn't using much if any apex curbing especially at 10. Does it upset the car that much?

Mind sharing rough setup information such as camber, toe and caster? Spring rates?

Good ideas on his lines, I will ask Brian for his take but I would imagine seeing as we're only testing and not droving 10/10's he may be just trying to keep things smooth.

As for car setup I will have to get our setup sheets from the truck but the only thing that was setup correctly was the camber (-3.8 Fr and -3.2 rear) as we had a complete mix up with who was bringing what to the test day so when Tommy, Ozzo and myself got to the track expecting to meet up with the full GOTO:Racing rig with all the tools and equipment we needed we only got greated by Brian and his father Steve and a Lexus with no tools.

We checked that our toe was within ballpark of what we wanted and it was close ish and we just run what we brung so to speak including when the gasket started to blow out on the manifold during session 2.

Spring rates are 650lbs front and 550lbs rear or there abouts.

That sounds pretty close to what I'm running, which is approx -3.5f/-2.5r (can't get any more out of the set front, maybe a little more in the rear if I extend the lateral links) I maxed out the front caster at 5 deg (caster plates + Whiteline ALK offset bushing). Zero toe front and rear (just for tire life... if I had free tires, I'd probably run .5 toe out in the rear and less damper back there). My spring rates are also in the same ballpark at 671f/504r, but the L's will be effectively stiff due to the lighter car.

What sort of suspension mods are you running in addition to the Ohlins? I'm especially interested if you guys are running the Whiteline Roll Center kit or the 6gun ball joint extenders. That's really the last bit I'm thinking about doing to my suspension.

We don't run either of those, if we lowered the car more and needed to bring the A arms back we would but due to clearance issues and the sheer tire size we're running we cannot get the car any lower.

Something to add with the Ohlins, we have them completely custom valved for our application and drop limiters installed to keep the travel in check.
