Default Monterey Historics

I made it to the Sunday half of this years Monterey Historics. I've been dying for years to get out to this event, and I finally got to check it out.

I found there was way too much to see in just one day (Lisa and I were there from about noon to 5pm). I felt like I missed a bunch of the racing to see the cars in the paddock and vice-versa.

I tossed my pictures up in the gallery (yes, I just figured out what was wrong and got it sorta working again): http://www.seccs.org/gallery/index.p...0Laguna%20Seca

Here are some of the better pics:

Ferrari Boxer 12

I've been trying to go every season for the past 6 years or so

Anyway, sweet pics Scott. I'll have to look through them all later.

Ferrari 250 GTO. The best sportscar ever.

First time I've ever seen one in person... that alone is worth the whole trip to the historics. Absolutely gorgeous.

That was me talking to the instructor and seeing if I fit in the car. I don't. In that picture, my foot is *under* the clutch pedal so I could get my ass in the seat.

Also, I discussed the curriculum with the instructor... it sounds like days 1 and 2 of 3 will teach me next to nothing since it's learning how to shift, brake, pick your line, etc. Basic car control stuff that I think I've got a pretty good handle on from all the time trials I've done. Only day 3 gets into actual racing instruction. It sounds like a pretty expensive school for less than a day of new material. I would probably be better served by trying to find a different school w/ cars I fit in that would let me skip right to their intermediate school so I can learn some door-to-door (or wheel-to-wheel as the case may be) stuff.

It's definitely overpriced, you're probably right about finding something else. I'd totally agree about day 1, when I went it was autocross, classroom and riding along. Day 2 was a mix of classroom, drills and track sessions; I did like some of their drills though (esp. the threshold braking exercises).
