I do in fact have a 2.0L shortblock just sitting in a box in my garage. But it's got a weird history:

Steve on this board who works at Subaru hooked up the block from their service dept. 'cause it came out of a car under warranty. The guy was complaining about the motor and somehow got them to cover the shortblock replacement even though nothing seemed wrong with the car. When the shortblock came out, they confirmed that nothing looked wrong, so the service dept. hung on to the block for like 6 months or whatever waiting for Subaru of America to inspect it. SOA never bothered and just let the dudes warranty claim pass. So Steve passed the block along to me because I lost one at a Sacramento area shop (long ass story). But I ended up not needing it, and I never bothered to take a close look at it to see what condition it's in.

MPREZIV has dibs on the block for a WRX swap he was thinking about into his RS, but if he passes on it, I've got no problem passing the block along for cheap, as I'm not planning on using it, but like I said I can't guarantee the condition of the block other than to say I was told it was in good shape when I got it like 2 years ago.

I was kinda hoping he'd see this post and let us know! He's had dibs for like 18 months or so, but hasn't gotten around to going for the swap, and since no one's been interested in the motor, there's been no reason to press him on it.

Cory, you at all interested?

TOTALLY interested! I was simply apartment living up until the last couple months, and didn't even have a garage to put the short block in until I could gather up the rest of the parts. I do sure still want it tho, and can now actually come get it and have room to store it!

sorry WRXlerate...

^Cory, I will give you my entire wrx setup if you take it out yourself and stick a 2.5l in its place. That way I won't have to call you so much.
