No, if you co-drive you have to pay. Working is free.

my forehead, nose and checks are RED . Very RED. i kept waking up last night . aaah sun screen. yes, uv goes through clouds. DOH and wow you rock Cody , goes out to work! LMK if you need a ride i can leave from tahoe a few minutes early and pick you up... i'll maybe think about letting you drive my car... not sure if on dual driver cars if you can boot 1 driver and grab an instructor or if both drivers have to ride in that vehical every run. not sure about how much clutch abuse i want to subject my lil subaru to

Does anyone have a link or some info on how points work? I don't expect to be winning any points yet (i'm sorta assuming only top 3 or 5 get points but maybe everyone gets some no matter where you finish) But i would love to know how the points system works.

I haven't been out in the sun (with out helmet and snowboard googles) since last summer, and just wasn't thinking to use sun block or use a hat. And you don't need to see the sun, UV rays go right through clouds, I'm just too pale for this latitude and altitude.

I feel the urge to draw a diagram of UV rays penetrating cloud cover and striking red faced Anglo-Saxons while Corey looks on unscathed.

that must really be the case... I am fully aware that UV rays go through clouds, but didn't know that it would still be so bad that one could burn!

With two driver cars, you can run with or without the other driver in the car, or take anybody else, it's up to the two of you. Most people will copilot for the first few runs, and get 2-3 solo runs to go after the points. It's a nice advantage actually, provided your brakes and tires can withstand the extra heat- which yours can. Being able to compare notes and strategy with someone driving the same course in the same car helps.

Points are pretty simple- clicky for last year's results. 21 points for 1st, 16 for second, 14 for third, 12 for 4th, then -1 for each successive place. You always get one point for competing, regardless of the number of finishers.

Over the course of a year you get to drop your 4 worst results. i.e. for a competition with 16 rounds, only your best 12 results will count towards your final points tally

So "no-shows" count as drops right?

Also, how do "Novice" points transfer if you decide to start competing in a real class mid season? I think you guys were saying they were transferable IIRC.

So if i understand everything correctly.
1) Codriven cars, or single driven cars, may elect to have anyone for a ride along?
2) Only Solo Runs count for points ?

any run counts for points (except for run-no-points).

but, you can have passengers along and score points.

Are the run schedules for the weekends set in stone? I may have to work on some afternoons but would love to run in the mornings so would not have any drop weekends. April and May it will not matter but June and July I may only be able to run in the A.M. Don't want to wine but I have to pay the bills.

For class points, you do not get 1 point regardless of place, though there are very few classes with more than 10 competitors at an event so getting 0 class points is rare.

In PAX, the scale is 21,19,18,17,16... down to 1, then 1 point for every competitor thereafter.

Yeah, they're set. Unfortunately, if you can't be at the track during your scheduled run group and work the appropriate session, you can't get points. You could still run RNP in the morning if you wanted though.

On occation drivers have asked their class competitors if they'd allow 'em to run out of class in the morning for situations like that.

Unless there's a chance of afternoon only rain, usually people don't have a problem with it, but you have to make sure to bring it up the event before w/ your competition, and realize that if someone later decides to protest your out of class runs, it will more than likely be upheld.

I believe you have to request permission from the event chair as well.
