I'm so glad to be reading that now, before i do anything crazy with my Magnetic sheet . i figure i can just cut out all white numbers /Letters since my car is blue. white class numbers/letters on a blue car 10" Numbers and 5" Letters . Is there a Limit to how long our class numbers can be ? 2 digits ? 3 ? 4 ?

Pick a 2 digit number, and add in a 1 for each side. It's easiest for T&S to have, say, 125 and 25 running in a car.

I don't mean to be an ass, but if you aren't willing to read the rule book, run novice, and we will give you "pretty" paper numbers you can stick on your windows for free...

This is part of the main reason why Novice exists... If you want to run in a scored class, you need to spend the energy to read the rule book. This includes sections other than those specific to your class. There is all sorts of good stuff on safety, event operations, etc... including car number and class letter requirments.

Sorry, it is 6am and I am in NJ. That is all.

Well, I was a novice once, but it was before we had the Novice program. That N on my car was for Street Tire. Rememeber...Street tire only changed to a T recently.

Since this thread was already here, I figured I'd use it. Here is my question, If I were to prepare my RS according to STX rules, would I be allowed to run in DSP still? The way I interpret the rules, is that you can run an ST car in SP, but not the other way around. the reason that I ask is brakes. My car is woefully under braked, But before I do anything drastic, I figured I'd find out for sure form everybody else. I will not be buying brakes just so they can bump me into TSM, they're not gonna make up the 5 second deficit Matt left me with last weekend

Thanks, Chris.

I would like to say, in view of Dean's slight loss of patience, that all of us NOOBs are REALLY appreciative of all the help we've gotten. I know all the vets around here must get tired of being bombarded with auto-x questions come the middle of March, and I just wanted to say that we are lucky to have someone to answer them in the first place!

14.11.A says- The STX class expands the vehicle eligibility limits beyond those specified for STS, and adds a limited number of allowed modifications. These allowances are as follwos:

14.11.A.1 All allowances in STS carry over, including street tires, emmissions, etc.

14.11.A.3 Engine size allowance: up to 5.1 liters, Normally Aspirated, and 2.0 liters, forced induction.

14.11.A.7 Brake rotors may be replaced with any rotor of equal or larger diameter made from a ferrous or aluminum alloy. Calipers are unrestricted, but must mount to the original mounting points.

And the first page of the section 15 (Street Prepared), paragraph 5 says- Cars listed as eligible in and prepared to the current national Street Touring (ST) class rules are permitted to compete in their respective Street Prepared classes, with the additional allowance that they may use any tire which meets the requirements of 15.3 and fits on the ST-legal wheels and within the ST-legal bodywork.

Thanks, Chris.
You read correctly, and thank you for reading... I would never say RTFRB to someone who clearly has, so there Kevin.

The gotcha is you can only use one or the other set of preparation rules. The only allowance for running a ST? car in SP is tires. The car must otherwise fully comply with ST rules. So unless you plan to run Hoosers, or Khumos, don't bother, just run ST?.

The issue is that he wants to run bigger brakes, which means STX or SM, neither of which would allow him to be competitive. This way he can upgrade his brakes and still compete against other NA Subies directly.

My point is that unless you are running race rubber which is the reason for this rule, you may be stretching things to try and run TDSP using the STX rules...

Using the basic Stock, and SP and ST rules theory: Unless it specifically says you can, you can't... Our T class rules do not allow for ST prepared cars to run under there SP class on Street Tires...

So if he wants to run on street tires in DSP at .829, he is welcome to. But STX at .804 is better...

(If pax is important to him (and if no race tired cars are in DSP)) else (chance to win DSP class title).
