Actually, I am when it comes to the latest stuff. I got real tired of trying to keep up with knowing everything about modding other peoples' cars back when I was pretty much running i-club's tech forums singlehandedly. Now I just don't care.

Well, he did recently think that whiteline swaybars were still 25¢ or whatever.

Well..it was about 8:30 in the morning this past Tuesday (Oct. 30) and i was driving to work. i was a making a left into the Harvey's casino parking lot, still kinda zoned out from waking up so early. As i was turning in to the parking lot, i hit a patch of black ice big enough to break all four of my tires loose and send me into a skid into the curb at 10 mph. My right front wheel hit the curb at a very bad angle when i was trying to correct. Destroyed my strut, lower control arm, front axle hub and transverse link are all fucked..not to mention my rims on that side are scratched to hell, and those are $450 apiece.

Sucks, but you should be able to get a really nice set of aftermarket rims for the $900 your insurance company will dish out. Talk to the shop that's doing the work. I've never had a problem getting them to sign the money over to you if they didn't need to buy the parts. I've even got a some nice Enkei rims I've been thinking of selling.

Oh well, but it would have been ironic for you to have bought them since I bought them with insurance money I received for destroying two of my rims.

Check out Tirerack.com. They indicate that we do have the same bolt pattern, 5X100, and offset. You may want to do some more searching to corroborate this though.
These are the closest Rims to the RP02's I'm thinking of selling. I actually have 6 of them, which is good since they're discontinued so if you curb one, having a spare is pretty killer. They're 17X7.5 ET48 and about 15.5lb according to Edge Racing (never weighed them myself, but that's light compared to Rota's). They should be half an inch wider than your stockers and lighter as well. ![]() They're silver and look like this: ![]() Being so light and in perfect condition (pretty sure there's no scratches anyway) I'm not really interested in selling them for less than $600 for set of 6. They also come with Falken Azenis RT-615 with about 20% tread left. They'd work just fine in the Summer but don't even try them in the rain/snow. I'll probably make a For Sale thread after I get them cleaned up. They're a little dirty at the moment. Here's a pic of them on my car:

actually, i would be interested in those...but as you have read previously, my money is otherwise occupied at the moment. If you would be willing to save them for me til say the first week of December, i will definitely take them off your hands!

UPDATE:
So i still dont have my car back as of 11/13/07. Why? because of an $8 part. Apparently, all new cars must be outfitted with tire pressure sensors as of 2010. Subaru has taken a bit of initiative with this and started doing it to all of their cars this model year. Why is this significant? Well, the sensor is located in the tire stem, and must be replaced every time you get new wheels, which got replaced through the insurance company. Thing is, Michael Hohl didn't know that the tire stem must be replaced every time you get a new rim, and they wont let me drive without the new sensor. The old tire stems work just fine, but you cannot reuse the sensors. GheyQ ![]() |

Their mistake for not ordering all the necessary parts. Stick them with your rental bill for the period missed.

No, I won't work on your car. F* your car

That's odd... every tire sensor I've ever seen is removable/reusable, long as it's not damaged. And they typically cost WAY more than $8...

True on both counts. The aftermarket ones we sell range from $50-$100. The sensor and valve stem are all one unit, unless Subaru has decided to invent their own style.

hey man, thats what they told me....unless they have developed some super cheap disposable ones recently....
UPDATE: Well, it is NOT, in fact, the tire pressure sensor. It is the valve stem that connects to the sensor. That needs to be replaced you get a new rim. Now, if i got aftermarket rims, i would have to buy the whole assembly. But since these are factory rims, the cost of the sensor is included with the rim. The Subaru techs just didn't know you had to change out the valve stem every time you get a new rim. This makes much more sense than an $8 tire pressure sensor. so yeah.....it's not some sophisticated piece of microtechnology holding me back from driving my car. No, something much smaller and cheaper in fact. Last edited by badrover; 2007-11-14 at 10:32 AM. Reason: New information found. |
