Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default Starship Troopers 3?

After the first one bombed, I didn't even know they made a 2 much less a 3... I assume the last one is straight to DVD, but why???

Because if a studio thinks a movie will generate $15 in revenue for $14 in production costs, they make it.

This just reminded me of that old TV series "Space Above and Beyond". I can't remember the details but I know some of you have seen it. Also, didn't the first Starship Troopers have Denise Richards boobs in it? Perhaps even her whole body.

No, Denise Richards was not nekkid in the first one, that red-head chick was tho.

And yes, the first S'ship Troopers was GREAT! It was so awful that it was amazing! Futuristic Full Metal Jacket!

I saw the original on opening night in SLO. Packed theater full of college kids.. it was easily one of my top 5 best theater experiences. I had an awesome time seeing that movie.

I heard they made a second one that when straight to video. The third is likely the same. But like Kevin said, they make money if they don't spend a crap ton on advertising it... they've got a loyal fan base from the 1st movie and the Heinlein novels. Since they how much they'll make on it regardless of the quality of the movie, they just need to make sure the production costs are lower than the expected revenue and it's green-lit.

The third one is also supposed to finally have the Power Armor from the Heinlein novel that so many of the 'book purists' decried was missing from the first movie.

Fun fact, one of my friends from college was an extra in Starship Troopers. He hated it every time we watched that movie.

That reminds me, a friend of mine was an extra in We Were Soldiers since it was being filmed on the central coast. I was supposed to head out there with him to be in it too, but it ended up being the same week I was starting my job at IGT.

I saw the preview for #3 in the movie theater. I seriously thought it was a joke of some sort until the very end. It's like they purposely tried to make it the corniest movie ever made.

Apparently they made 3 just as if not more "campy" than number 1 including the recruiting "serve and become a citizen" commercials.
