...doesn't seem at all "extreme". The idea's cool... buy a car and troll the streets for races, then whomp someone for money, and use it to make you car faster. Very RPG-ish. Plus there are some cool obscure cars, and what looks like a very intricate mod/setup system. The problem is: the driving isn't fun. The car drive like ass (might just be the slow ass car I have in the game so far.. but driving feels very un-realistic) Also, every road looks like the same freeway over and over again, and racing is just a matter of avoiding a few copies of the same van that seem to be the only other cars on the road while staying in front of your opponent. There's also no cops, or wrecks, so besides losing a race, there are no consequences to driving poorly. Perhaps, I'm just a n00b in the game, so I'm stuck freeway racing, and later there'll be down-town, city street races and some mountain touge... but I don't think I'll get far enought to find out... one night with the game seems like enough. At least I'm rolling a sweet '88 XT turbo w/ gold Work rims! Oh and the game cost $20.

Hehe, I feel like bumping old threads tonight. Anyways, I just got this game a few weeks ago, and I can't stop playing it. The idea is simple, the gameplay is very simple, the vehicles handling is ass, but I keep finding myself coming back for more. Oh, and in case you stopped playing, the highway racing never really gets any better, per se, just higher speeds (in previous versions of TXR, they actually had more then just one non-ricer car on the streets, but they opted for more ricer cars on the map then non-ricer cars and had to deal with memory constraints) Right now I'm rocking a GC STi, all black with black Rota Sub-Zeros (Actually, the original design, but the name slips my mind right now), pushing about 460hp. Just waiting for my H6 turbo swap. Oh baby, oh baby.

I really like the game's concept... basically a Ricer RPG... but with Need for Speed Underground, why bother w/ TXR? And somehow NFSU has 4 ricers and a ton of traffic... it's not like TXR has 30 different ricer car models loaded... in fact there's only like 4 different cars on the streets at a time, just multiple copies of each car, which should only take like 4 bytes of memory per car.
