Default Where's the tricked out factory WRX's to compete with EVO's?

I read Mitsubishi is coming out with a EVO MR VFQ in europe which is putting down 400hp and 380lb torque. It will be a limited edition car which sells for around 40K lbs which is super cheap compared to the cars which it can hang with performance wise...think Porsche Carrera GT...Mit's says 0-60 times around 3.8sec and a top speed of 175mph limited. They also said they could have gotten 450hp out of the 2 litre engine but didn't want to up the cost too much. Still comes with the 3 year warranty also. That's Cool! I think Subaru is falling behind... The Evo used to have the better handling and the WRX a better engine but I think that's gone now too... looks like Subaru is down to a better gas tank and nicer interior. Subaru better come out with some cool new stuff or I might have to defect to the other side

Where's the "The EVO is a sick car, but I'd still rather stick to my WRX/STi" poll option?

Also, don't forget an STi w/ a reflash and exhaust puts down a ton of power and even with the mods still costs $7000 cheaper. And just think what you'd get out of an STi if you spend $40k! Besides, it's not like Mitsubishi's warranty is worth anything.

By the way, what's "EVO MR VFQ" stand for?

Every vehicle operates, minus reliability, very fucking quickly?

Or the "They're both pretty cool, but I can't afford either one of the damn things" poll option?

Personally, I'm suprised Mitsubishi has the money or wherewithal to release anything like that

Although, I'm sure one of the million special edition Impreza's that never come here could match that performance.

Not likely. They just lifted the 280hp thing in Japan, I'm sure Subaru will spice it up soon.

You're actually right about the VFQ part. It's the FQ300 and FQ330 designators.

Oh, and the Evo MR is as good as it's going to get in the US. Better track car than the STi out of the box, but I'd take an STi as my primary car.

umm 3.5sec, 210mph for the GT, and I doubt the EVO stops better, or has more grip.

That's not a factory car though. I'm sure there are tuner STis that are faster.

Uh, semantics... 3 hundreths of a second..is it worth the extra $300,000? I was just throwing out an example of a high performance car.

Well, that 3 hundreths of a second in the 0-60 (actually the 0-60 is 3.2s according to Motor Trend) continues to translate into a 0-100 of 7.06s, and very low 11s in the 1/4. If you want to talk about raw acceleration, the Porsche dominates the EVO MR VFQ. And don't even get started on handling.

A closer comparison would have been to a Porsche Turbo S, which costs $131k.

And if the EVO MR VFQ costs the same here as it will in England, it'll cost about $73,000. (40k GBP = $72,685) Once again, imagine the the performance of an STi with $20k put into it, and then imagine what another $20k feels like in your back pocket.

Granted cars are usually more expensive in Europe/England, and granted that EVO is going to be an uber-sick car, I think you'd do much better to buy a "lower model" car like a WRX or STi or EVO8 and mod it to beyond those performance levels for cheaper... or just buy a Porsche. i.e. "Special Edition" vehicles are marked up more than their worth.

Then for the people who don't need another $20k in their back pocket - just get one of the limited edition GT2's and run it in autocross  This guy was in our Evo school, and also ran in the weekend event.

Um, I'd need a spare $100k in my back pocket to roll like that!

Aim for the EYES!
Default Evo vs Sti

Since I have both I can settle this fast
Sti is smother faster pulls harder
Evo is jerky, throw is longer in the gear box the a/c sucks the power big time
but it does handle sweet, for the money I should have bought a 2nd Sti
It feels like a cheap car, gear box is crap. I love the way it looks!
People stair at it like it is a rock star
the Sti is a better/faster car (in a straight line)

Tough to argue with someone who owns both. You should post that on NASIOC to stop all the whining.

Can't argue with that...

And I guess you're right, for the money that you would spend on the EVO MR VFQ you should be able to get that performance out of an STI...but, not with a warranty intact. Which most people don't care about anyway, but having the car modded by the factory gives a small peace of mind. Of course If I did have that kind of cash to spend I'd have to buy a used Porsche 993 Turbo; might as well mod a boxer 6 AWD!
