Knocking sound?
So my car makes this nice loud knocking noise. My mechanic says its rod knock Nate says he *thinks* the tranny meshing improperly. It seems RPM dependent and happens between 3k-4k or so. Compression test is fine. Any insight is appreciated.

Does it do it when the car is stopped, just revving up the engine? If it does you could listen around the engine & tranny with a stethescope (or the ghetto way, with a piece of hollow pipe up to your ear) to track it down.

Ya it will do it while you rev, but you can't hold it at an RPM and have it do it. At least I haven't been able to.
