I don't believe so, the water pump actually ends up running slower.

Why do you need a cooling upgrade. I'm not aware of that being an issue on Impreezas except where they have gone crazy with boost and/or timing, and in those cases, not much ever helps. There are a couple of shrouds that keep teh air from circulating around teh radiator, and I'm sure there are aluminum radiators, but why?

Crucial Racing offers a cooling package that includes Samco radiator hoses, a higher pressure radiator cap, a thermostat that opens earlier and fails open for safety. I think it might come with watter wetter too. I think it's like $200.

They also have a radiator shroud.

Isn't the water pump run by the timing belt on your car? It is on the 2.2's & 2.5's. The only things on the accessory belts are the alternator, power steering, and AC, I think. Underdrive pulley should have zero effect on the water pump...

The cooling system isn't stressed on your WRX, not by a bit. But peace of mind is worth a lot, so don't feel bad about upgrades like the upper radiator shroud, Redline Water Wetter or equivalent, and runn a 'leaner' coolant mix in the summer. The thermostat and replacement radiator are overkill really. You know the output of the more prevalent trackwhoring SECCS members' cars, and the conditions they run them in (meaning August heat at Lovelock and Fernley) and I can't think of anybody even mentioning slightly elevated cooling temps.
