Hey I'm probably going to catch major hell for a stupid question. But...
Im trying to get rid of a knock sensor fault code. Can somone verify that this is the knock sensor on a EJ25? Ive checked it with a mulitmeter and ther's no continuity but I want to make sure I'm checking the right thing. Have a Sweet Day! |

I can't say I've ever found my knock sensor... but you can check here for the service manuals:

That looks like it, but it's hard to tell becuase of the various parts that look like they're loose (I can't locate it effectively). I've got an EJ25 too, but my throttle cable doesn't run perpendicular like that....
I beleive the knock sensor is behind the manifold and on the right side of center when looking into the engine bay from the front, and that definitely lookslike it (a single bolt runs through it and into the block). Additionally, that connector looks like the right one. Sorry I can't be of more help, I got lazy and had the shop I was working for at the time fix it when mine went.

Ok Im gaining conficence. I folded the throttle body out of the way to gain access to the connector. Yes its under the throttle body pullies, behind the intake manifold, right of center on the top of the block. You can see the hydraulic clutch to the rear.
So then the manual says if it does not have continuity the unit is working. It DOES NOT. What are the other common causes for this sensor to trip??? I installed an underdrive pully about a week before the check engine light first showed up. If reset the light comes back in 3 or 4 days. I'm sporting 110,000 miles but the motor sounds good and hasnt exhibited any loss in power. Any experience, Anyone??? |

You've never been down south... you can deep fry ANYTHING!!!!
That knock sensor is supposed to have a resistance from one of the two pins to the inside of the housing where the bolt goes through, once you remove it from the block. I don't recall what pin, or what the resistance spec. is tho. Lemme look through some svc. manuals I have, and get back to you. Oh, and the knock sensor is the ONLY code you're getting? Most of the time they won't actually turn on the CEL...

I looked in Alldata, but I couldn't find anything on spec. or which pin is which. I *do* know that there is supposed to be continuity between one of the connector pins, and the metal inner body of the sensor.
