You can come test fit a 225 R215 if you want this weekend. I'll probably be doing brakes again I think on Sunday since it is supposed to rain Sat.

The +55 would probably explain why he could run those wide ass tires with stock alignment. Stock ride height doesn't hurt either.

Thanks Dean. I have plans to board on Sunday, but I'll keep in touch. I need to drop off that brake fluid I owe you too.

Yep, good memory there Scott...Yeah, I had a feeling the stock suspension is what gave me all the room

Although, you can check out the STX standings in Event #14 8/10/03 at Stead to show how well my stock setup worked. FTW

Well, Dean's Azenis 215's rubbed a little when I took a fast corner. It probably wouldn't take much fender rolling to make them fit though. Also a 7.5" wide wheel might help matters...

That's really good, but they weigh 21lb each.

I'm about to pull the trigger on those as well, I just wish they came in other colors. I have the money since I already sold my other rims. I guess I could get them powdercoated for pretty cheap.

That's not *that* bad for 18s. I'm sure not many autocrossers will be rocking these, but for a street wheel it's OK. I've had 17s that weighed that much.

True, but it's hard to justify powdercoating a perfectly uncurbed set of rims (in my mind anyway). I'm just using them for autocross and I could care less what they look like for that.

I know, I can't justify it either. Maybe I'll run them silver for the first summer, then powdercoat them the next. It'll be like a new set of wheels again! Of course, that will make them heavier too i imagine. I'm too much of a ricer not to care about looks I guess.

I don't think PC adds much weight compared to the paint they have on there does it? It's basically a thin plastic shell right? ...couple ounces at the most, I'd think.

Powdercoating typically deposits about a .010" thick layer on a part. Someone ambitious could take that number and run with it to come up with a weight number for a typical wheel surface area...

Do you think it weighs much more than the paint they bead blast off prior to PC'ing?

I just placed the order.

i dought the powder coating weights that much. but i dunno damn . that is such a good deal for 18's . would much rather have some Prodrives, but wow that is a great price. I notice that prodrive makes 18" rims but no 19" rims . (as you may, or may NOT know, prodrive helped designed the sti, and is the #1 after market car company , in terms of knowledge about subarus) should i conclude that since prodrive does not make any 19" rims for the STI, that i would not go to a 19" , that there must be something about the suspension , etc, where going from 18s to 19's would not make a difference ?? (esp if i'm to buy an autocross set only rims) might as well buy 19's IF they have an advantage over 18's course the new cost of tires might be so damn much i wouldn't want to go with 19's ...
*confused and on stock rims*
