For the most part, I think it's nice to have the option. Some people will manage to strip more than 200 pounds off of their cars. It's only people whose car weighs more than it did on the showroom floor that it backfires on. Come to think of it, the issue is that the race-trim weight includes driver, while the listed curb weight obviously does not. I think by removing the driver from the race-day weight, or adding it to curb weight, would eliminate anybody dropping a class by being over the curb weight significantly. I wonder if Matt and Eric could end up in TT-3 if they added cages.

Maybe add a rule that using actual weight can be used to prevent you from moving up a class from where curb weight plus penalty would put you, but cannot lower your class from where it would be bone stock? Of course, the vast majority of people with stripped interiors removed less than 200 pounds, so that rule would be basically useless. That catch-all that event staff can reclass cars at their sole discretion will come in handy!

Bump... there have been more changes, yes? Jeff Neilson asked me about TT tech/classing, so I came back to the classing page, and found that I am in TT-6, even if my cars weighs only 2275 pounds in race trim. Has the interior mod penalty been eliminated?

Reno SCCA has scales. We will not be using curb weights, only actual weight including driver.
