Default 2005 Subaru Outback - Pics and Info

Apparently the new 2005 Outback will be equiped with the same engine as the 2005 Legacy turbo. Both 250 horsepower.

http://www.outback.subaru.com/main.html

The damn thing looks beastly now! With a option of a 3.0L 6-cylinder 250-horsepower engine with 5-speed transmission. I do still like the look of the Legacy turbo better, but damn.....Subaru is making some fast cars now.

Boy the outback has really gone SUV on us! Such is the nature of cars in the US. At least sales will fund Impreza and Legacy R&D... maybe we'll get that STi Legacy...

I believe it's still based on the Legacy, so it's not "Super-Sized" like everything else these days. But it's not the smaller Impreza based Outback-Sport which I tend to see a lot more of lately.

I really don't like that grill on the OB, the Legacy one is much better.

(This coming from the man who actually really likes the B11S and B9 grills)

The new outback's front end reminds me of the Infinity FX45... which I actually like a lot... but would never buy. You might however get me into one of the new Outbacks, if it's got enough balls to tow a WRX in the H6 format.

I think its just the slotted horizontal bars that rub me the wrong way.

But, in all honesty, I don't care as much about the looks of a car as the functionailty If I needed towing capacity Outback (or Surveyor/Adriondak/B7) here I come!

Strong rumors that it will be announced by the end of this year for the 2006 model year. Check nasioc news and rumors forum, they like to talk about it there.

4 doors, 7 seats. Either H6/H6 Turbo or H8 (I think unlikely). B11Sish Grill. SUV/Minivan crossover look.

Well, I'd take a base model version if it were able to tow 5000lbs and cost under $30k. ($25k would be more like it). Oh and as long as it's not ugly as sin!

We can only hope.

There is also a rumor that the vehicle *might* share its platform with a redesigned Ponitac Aztek. It shouldn't look any worse then the Aztek version.

Pontiac said "We are considering building the redesigned Aztek with one of our GM partners, like Subaru"

SOA said "WTF? No one informed me of that. God I hope FHI doesn't make us do this."

That's *bad* (tm). The AssTeck's based on a Mini-Van chassis.
