Default Anybody interested in a motor swap?

So, I've been scouring the for sale forums loking for parts for my swap, and right now I can score enough parts to put together a JDM V7 type RA motor for less than $3000. Considering those of you with EJ20s under the hood have $15-1800 in your engine fund banks already, let me know if you are interested. You'd be looking at a factory ECU (which the boys at S2 can reflash), closed deck EJ20G with forged internals, AVCS heads with super jammy ports, V7 manifold sans TGVs, pretty much everything. Your choice of turbo + intercooler which gives some flexibility. Any interested parties?

<drool> But I'm going STX this season... Oh, and I'm too broke still paying off all the stuff I bought on credit.

You'd pax higher in NSM with 350 hp than in STX with 270. And you would be out about $1500 after selling your motor (probably to I-Speed).

Somehow I doubt I'd be competative in SM at Topeka with 350hp. Esp. considering a simple Stage 1 STi would mop me up in SM, not to mention the trailer queens in that class. Whereas, I'm tuned to the limits of STX right now. If I'm not a shitty driver, I should at least be competative nationally. I prolly won't win jack if I go, but at least I'll only have my driving to blame.

No, since I have no car to put it in. I just figured it would be cool to help someone else build a stupid fast car that won't break.

That motor/tranny needs to find a home in a '98 L.... with a wide-body kit.

If I had money and a big garage, it'd be on....

Just cuz the '98s have the better Forrester interior.

You'd have to put it in a pre OBDII car to pass emissions. That's why my project cars is a 93! I've takin the interior from a wrecked 2000 RS and it bolted right in, for the most part.

All you need to do is convert it to a US ecu and add the appropriate emissions equipment.

I'm pretty sure track cars don't need to pass emissions.

Actually we do have emissions standards in Reno and Vegas, they're just not as retarded as CA's. I'm pretty sure a JDM swap like that wouldn't pass here unless you found a smog shop willing to overlook the details... the real trick is to get am address outside of Washoe and Henderson(?) counties, where there truly is no smog regulation.

Actually, you guys would have a cake time getting the car to pass. All you gotta do is use your WRX ecu and wiring harness. You only have the OBDII scan, no tailpipe test right? A simple reflash will take care of the TGV CEL, then you put the JDM ecu in so it can control the AVCS. Piece of cake.

As long as you have the factory ECU and no CEL ity will pass. There's not even a visual inspection for OBDII cars.

I live in Lyon county (no smog check!) and over the years many of my friends have used my address or gotten their own post office box to register their cars. This seems to work well. I think one of my friends had his Lyon county P.O. Box mail forwarded to Reno.

I know this is how many folks with highly modified 4x4's get registered.
