Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default Change instrument light color to red

Not sure this is technical or not, but Matt and I were talking about it.

I want to change my instrument lighting to red to match my new PSI data pod VFD...

Aparently I need new sleeves to fit over the bulbs.

Where can you get them?

Any other gothas?

There must be a walk through out there, no?

Yep, there's a walk thru... In fact I think I even posted it up on SECCS... if not, there's a good write up on NASIOC.

hahaha, yeah dont try to replace the bulb unless you're verrrrrry skilled with doing stuff like that. oh yeah did i mention that you must have the correct bulb LOL. yeah, ryan and i figured that out trying to do his dash. As a result, the only thing that is left to do is, get a new gauge cluster!

 The bulbs just screw into the back of the instruments, unless there were major changes between the '02/'03 and the '04! How'd you guys break the instruments!? Hell, I actually had about 50 red LED soldered into my gauge cluster, then changed my mind and tore 'em out and reinstalled my bulbs and everything still works fine.

yes, they "click" in to the back... We were able to find the dash wattage was like 10.xx volts... so, naturally we needed enough bulbs to suck up the power. otherwise the bulb would burn itself out. I've used a soldering iron to replace the lights in Phone housingings when i was back in hawaii when that was the fad (very profitable)... my bro decided he was a pro and did the dash lights w/o me. so, he soldered the lights on himself. They worked for a little while but he decided he wanted to pull them off. Literally, pull them off... not knowing the hardened solder is pretty strong reguardless of how it looks, he pulled off the silver lining that the bulb touches in order to get power from the board. and that's why his fuel and temp gauge on his instrument cluster does not light up any more.

if you can get my bro's dash to work again, he'd be very happy!!!

you must teach us the ways of the jedi... so we dont burn out any more gauge clusters =0) .

that sucks!

All I can say is, if you're removing solder, you need a real solder remover. I ruined a lot of things pulling wires apart before I finally went and got a remover.

If he's damaged the leads that run to the bulb, there is a chance we can use some jumper wire to bascially re-wire the bulbs, but I'd have to see the instrument cluster in person to see if that's possible. Perhaps some time next week you can bring the car by my place and we can see if we can fix it. I know Tyson needs to do a leveling switch install too, so we can make a mini-install day out of it.
