Default Rear springs install

According to FedEx, my new rear springs are getting delivered today. Anyone feel like helping with a spring install tonight at my place?

I'm hoping that I can just remove the pillowball nut and drop the rears enough to be able to swap the springs w/o taking the struts off the car... if not, this job will basically be half a coilover install.

I plan on getting started right after I get home from work tonight (assuming the springs are actually delivered), so that's at about 5:30 or 6pm. And since I plan on getting them done as quickly as possible, the garage will be a no-milkshake zone.

I don't know how big of a hand I would be, but depending on how late I work, I could try and help.

I probably won't need a lot of help, but now that I'm not wedged into a 1 car garage, it's more fun to work on the car w/ people to chat with, rather than just busting ass in a hot garage alone.

The fight comes about 15 minutes after drinking the shake, when I have to go deal w/ the lactose intollerance cramps in the bathroom.

(sorry if that's a little too graphic )

Careful, with this group, there's more than likely to be multiple people busting ass, especially if there's lactose involved

Same traffic as Art. Don't know how much help I'd be but the more the merrier I suppose.

Where can we get some good milkshakes???? Jack in the box!!!

Sounds good. I have a 6pm appointment. I'll try to swing by after that.

Just a side note... An address would be good.

Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.

So what is the plan Stan?

1. Measure ride height
2. Jack up the rear
3. unload the springs by winding down them & the adjusters I thought this was really cool up in Seatle. On the DMS at least, with gloves on, and the lock nut spun away, you can rotate the entire spring, and adjuster instead of using the stupid wrenches.
4. pop the top nut. Did you leave the stupid dome cap off the top of your rear towers?
5. Rotate the thing out?
6. swap springs, and reverse...

Might have to disconnect the end links to get it to rotate. Probably do that before jacking it up?

As long as there's enough room to get the spring off w/o having to actually take off the rear strut, that's the plan.

You forgot:

0. remove the back seats

Well, I'm home, but there's no FedEx package waiting for me. Hopefully it's just not delivered yet, and it'll be here in a bit this afternoon. But FedEx ground is a bit notoriuos when it comes to screwing up deliveries.

So if you're planning on coming over, hold off for a bit... there may be nothing to do tonight.

Oh man, there was definitely stuff to do ... JC, Kevin, Scott and I hung out and watched Scott download old role playing games, and talked about Altezas, women, cars, etc. JC and I agreed on something, and Milkshakes were drunk...

According to FedEx, the package has an "incorrect package". I'm pretty sure that's code for "the driver was too lazy to find an address that's on a fairly new street".

And since the only number you can get for FedEx is for their national service, and not the local FedEx Home Delivery, the only thing I can do is have central service email the local hub and give them the "corrected address", even though I'm sure it was right to begin with, unless the guy shipping them to me made a typo on the shipping label (yeah right).

So, FedEx now has my address *for sure* and my cell phone number, so they can call me before they try to deliver it. I wish I could just call the local hub and schedule a pickup so I can just go get it myself...

Anyway, if they do actually show up today, then I'll probably either skip the meet or cut out early to do the install tonight. And if I get confirmation that the brake fluid isn't getting here today or tomorrow (which seems likely since Nate never got back to me with a total) then I'll probably do the front brakes tonight too.

Here's the number for all to see!

045796348117311

track the trials and tribulations of my rear springs. I should have figured it wasn't going to be easy, considering all the drama that went into just getting these coilovers to begin with.

And Matt, didn't I already ask you about your "contacts" yesterday? Where were you then!?

Well, since MapQuest has my address in there system, I sorta figured that FedEx and UPS, who's business absolutely rely on having accurate maps, would have it in theirs.

I swear I don't believe there was an error w/ the address... the driver just gave up on delivering it. The only way there could be an address issue is if the guy shipping it somehow wrote it down wrong. My shipping info came out of my confirmed address in PayPal, which I know is correct, so if somehow Kevin wrote 1670 Crater wrong, that's the only way it can be messed up. That's a pretty slim chance. I guess we'll see when I get the package.
