Default Almost to good to be true!

What would you say to a 1990 Eagle Talon TSI, AWD, Turbo, 5 spd, thats been garage kept, with a car cover on it for most of its life. This car has 55,000 original miles, plus it was owned by a seventy year old lady, who drove it off the lot. Sounds to good to be true right. I'm seriously pondering whether or not to by it, her son is selling it for her they want 3800 for it. It's black with immaculate paint, a perfect interior, with stock wheels without a scratch on them. Please sway me from the dark side.

I wouldn't think twice about scooping that up. That car has so much potential for tuning.

Even as a Subaru guy I'd buy that thing in a hot second if all that you say about it is true!

The only thing to be wary of is that it may not have been driven often recently and the seals and hoses, etc might need replacement.

It's Black... Never again.... Otherwise it is a rocking deal... I'd probably by the Galant VR-4 if it wasn't black...

I just went and drove it, and all i have to say is WOW!

So, i ran a car fax everything checked out, I checked kelly blue book, the retail value of the car is 3,815. The car's be sitting in the say spot for 2 dasy and their isn't a drop of fluid underneath it. So now all i need is 3,800 dollars. Any donations to the "Danger Car Fund"

Just Joking, or am I!

Just check symple stuff before or after you get it - that the cam angles match up on the gears, stuff like that. Sounds like a good deal, take it!

Ryan, Tim and I have agreed that it would be easier, and less "gay", if you painted you're car black.

I used to own that same car. I loved it. The only thing I remember that was a problem was the clutch and the shifter that felt like it was lubed with shards of glass. Other than that, the car was a blast.

Some day Sam, you will learn. Weve told you that its all in how the car is kept. DSMs get a bad rap because they get beat on alot. What would you expect from a cheap, turbo four cylinder?

So have you bought the car yet, or are you still thinking about it? For $3K+, Maybe I should get a dedicated winter car...

Exactly. I've had two DSM's and no real BIG problems that were car related. The only time my dsm (gst) EVER broke down was the timing belt skipped a couple teeth because one of the pullies was loose and tore through the timing belt cover, causing the belts to hit. I've heard this was one of the "problems" with DSMs but who knows, maybe when I got my timing belts change they forgot to torque that certain pulley to spec? Also my friends 1g has only broken down due to user error and negligence. Stuff that could happen to ANY car if not taken care of properly. The problem is that these cars are cheap, and people either buy them to abuse them or kids buy them and abuse them, expecting them to be rock solid with no maintenance.

Then there's the crank walk issue, but that's really just an excuse for a stroker motor...
