14 years old... Hmmm sounds like he should be learning how to replace head gaskets on 92 Hondas to me. He has 1.5-2 years or more to take it apart and put it back together..

Now thats exactly what I was thinking! I bought that car for him when he was 12, I think its time he learns the right side of a wrench! And I do kinda like it anyway, If I don't sell it thats precisely what he will be doing.

Well its already lowered with just lowering springs, no coil overs, cold air, and a custom chrome valve cover, and clear corners, the kid I bought it from riced it to some extent, I had to de-rice it...and its an automatic. Which makes it ez for him to drive. It would be a great 2 yr project. Since Honda thinks their parts are made from gold. But I did go to Subaru to get a Vin Cut key today, and they wanted $15 Bux!!!

If you think Honda parts are expensive.. you're in for a shock for anything for the Subaru save exhaust bits.

Yes thats what I gathered when I needed a credit card to get in the door at the Subaru Dealer here, I asked about a remote for my car and he asked for my gold card. Oh well, my insurance seemed a to jump quite a bit too, go figure.

Oh yeah, and give him the Civic! Not the rex! The civic would be perfect for a 16yr old, IMO.

Damn, you guys are tough around here....gimme some ideas then, but I am not gonna put a blow hole on it so the neighbors can hear it. I kinda like the idea of a nice quite ass kicking car.

Swaybar, short shifter, reflash, springs, brake pads depends on if you want to auto-x it.

well once I learn more bout the reflash that is probably a for sure one, I would like to upgrade the braking system. Sway bar is probably in the future as well.

I probably won't be doing much autocrossin but you never know...wonder if the wife will navigate hahaha, I think not!

Sick Dude. I don't know if you have a 17 or 20mm rear sway bar, but I run a 20mm OEM sway from an 02 WRX sedan coupled with solid (RE: metal with stiff bushings) endlinks to replace the stock rubber pair. I find that that alone makes the car much more neutral. You'll find, stock, your car understeers by design as this is safer than oversteer. But if you hate how bad the car plows corners, as I did, a 20mm rear sway and solid endlinks made the car handle much more neutral at the limit. Many companies make an adjustable sway, but you'll want to upgrade the stock mounts that the endlinks attach to since MY 02-03 have weaker mounts than the rest. Oakos.com sells the Progress rear anti-sway bar which comes with the upgraded mounts and lithium grease which are a nice touch.

For brakes, Kevin (AKA BANSUVS) just helped me install stainless steel braided brake lines. Porterfield R4-S brake pads and Blue ATE Brake fluid. The pads are great for the street and some autoX/aggressive use. They also are low dust and work great in the cold (unlike more aggressive pads). If they don't eat my rotors, they are the only pads I'll ever use (on the street). SS lines seemed to help pedal feel and the end result is much easier to control braking.

I got the pads, lines, fluid and a Whiteline quickrelease wagon specific rear strut tower bar from subaruwrxparts.com.

Well, really agressive (or sentient and hungry) ones might eat calipers too. You never know.

Default First mod

It begins, I like the quick release rear strut tower bar. My wagon plows like a John Deer and I have to fit the Blur in the back.
