I need heated seats! - Subaru Enthusiasts Car Club of the Sierras

Okay, so I'm looking for some aftermarket heated seats for the SVX.

Summit has a cheap $100/seat kit... but they have a cheap-o mechanical switch for controlling 'em, and the heater pads are wire. I need something that will work with my remote-start so I can trigger the seats when the car starts. Also there's a company that uses a carbon-fiber mesh pad that can be cut to fit the seat, and heats more evenly than the wire pads.

So... enter Carbotex comfort seat heaters. They use that dope CF element... yet, they too have a generic mechanical switch, though the switch controls a relay, which means I can probably get the remote-start to work with 'em.

What I really want is the control system used by Check Seat Heaters. They've got a lighted momentary switch that commands a control unit with a timer, thermostat, etc.

But here's the big problem... no one sells these damn things! You'd think a google search for "seat heaters" would return a 100 places to order from, but just about every place sells only to installers. And the few installers that resell the kits require you to call or fax them to order... I know pretty much what I want (the Carbotex kit), all I wanna do is order it online w/o having to deal on the phone while I should be busy at work.

They are the ones that I bought my old leather kit for the wrx. I added heated seats and they have very nice elements and switch options. Talk to James.

I think the heated pads and switches cost $90 / seat.

I've seen them advertizing on NASIOC, however, I don't see jack for the seat heaters on the website, nor is there an online ordering page... which is what I was bitching about in my 1st post.

I seriously doubt legacy seats would bolt into the SVX.

In the vast many pages there is discussion about it. Honestly call them and ask for James and he will set you up. They have great customer service and were very responsive when I did the install.

Check page 7 on Nasioc they talk about it there.

FYI, you need to remove the seat covers to install the heating pads. Do you already have/want leather. If not this would be the time to replace and it takes no longer than removing and reinstalling the factory covers.

SVX has leather, if it was cloth I wouldn't be bothering with the seat heaters!

My point was more to what is the condition of the leather. For around $600 you can get a complete custom brand new kit that will take exactly as long to install as it will to reinstall the factory leather.

Just a thought as it does take some time to reinstall leather.

Actually the leather is in great shape, considering the age and mileage of the car. If I were to go the route of new leather, I'd just ditch the seats and see if I couldn't get a set of leather Recaros that would allow me to sit a few inches lower in the car.

But I'm not trying to spend too much money on the SVX, I'm just trying to avoid shivering all the way to work in the morning.

And we all know how good you are at not spending too much money on cars. You should just get suede/fabric seat inserts.

You know ADT will do custom embroidering also. You should get new for the fronts and get the SECCS logo on there. Black leather with Red alcantara inserts, put on some spacers and 13's!
