Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once
Default Lovelock AutoCross

Sept 10 - 11th.

I plan on going. So, I was wondering what to expect? I can imagine it to be a lot like Hawthorne's event, correct me if I am wrong.

I am thinking that I need to get a room at one of the hotels, anyone want to split a room? Funny story from High School. I was on the South Tahoe Wrestling team, we had a match up in Winnemucca. Well on the way back our bus broke down at a little gas station outside Lovelock. So, when we finally got to Lovelock the school (STHS) had to pay for the whole team to get a hotel room. It was rather funny, because the next morning the whole team had to run all the way through town. We were a sight to see, I guess, because it seemed like most of the town came out to watch us run to the breakfast dinner at the other end of town. Good times.

I haven't been in Lovelock since then, been through a couple of times. Anyway, I am looking forward to running my car up there.

Lovelock is similar to Hawthorne in that it's a runway course, which lends itself to a slalom heavy layout. I think Lovelock is better than Hawthorne though... the runway is wider, there's more runoff, less crest, and better pavement. We've also got two taxiways to run on, so it's not an "out-and-back" layout, it's more of a circle usually.

I didn't go to last year's event, but I heard it was a really fun, really fast course. Almost a "time trials lite".

Lovelock as a town is a pretty cool too. They usually block out some rooms for us at the casino, and the happy hour drinks are cheap! So Saturday night is usually a kick in the pants with the drinks and banquet and car talk.

It should be a great event.
