Default Good shop to install a clutch?

So I need a clutch. I think I might go with an ACT as I have heard/been told/read that other RS owners are happy with them. Any shops to recommend for install? Basically I don't wanna get f'ed in the a. I don't really trust shops to work on stuff, but I can't do this myself. I searched for a recommended shop through some threads but to no avail. That or I dunno how to read. Gratzi.

PM MPREZIV, he just did the clutch in my RS. I got an ACT streetlite flywheel with an Exedy stage 1 clutch (clutch was used actually) and so far I like it better than my old setup, which was Exedy flywheel and ACT clutch. My old one used to get a lot of judder and was harsher engaging. This one is pretty smooth. I do kinda wish I had a stiffer pedal, and therefore more clamping from the pressure plate, but I took my chances with this clutch, since the price was right.

If Cory can't do it, I'd reccomend A-1 Transmission on Grove. But Cory would be my first choice.

I asked Cory a while ago if he could do it, no dice, so I'm gonna give A-1 a call.

WTF are you talking about Jonny!? I told you, "I won't do it in your DRIVEWAY, but I can do it here at work, and get you a decent labor rate, saving you some money over paying another shop..."

Don't make me search through my old PM's and find that exact message...

Welp now that that is cleared up... Kevin you say you got more shudder from the ACT than the Exedy? I've read that other RS owners get clutch shudder from the Exedy when cold. In my mind right now it's ACT v Exedy (maybe v Kennedy Engineering 6 puck disc).

Well, I only have like 300 freeway miles on the new setup, but yeah, it's very smooth. I had judder come and go with the old setup, and I also had a jacked up slave cylinder- one probably caused the other. It wasn't terrible, but so far the Exedy clutch is better. I'd skip a 6 puck either way. They have reduced surface area for a reason.

Jonny, it'll cost considerably less at my shop than anywhere else because I'm getting you a labor discount. The charge is still 5 hours, but you won't be paying $90 per hour that the shop normally charges!

It usually takes me a few hours to do it, but you'll def. have the car back the same day.

Kev, how much did your bill come out to altogether, with tax and everything, if you don't mind posting that here...?

$360, but that included like $20 for that pilot bearing.

Does this look like it is in good condition? I'm very hesitant to buy it, if you read the ad you'll see why. I don't really know what a bad clutch would look like.

It looks about like mine did. But, I got mine for free basically, and I dunno if I'd drop $150 on a used wear item.

Well I definately thought about not givin himi 150 for it. But I don't think I want to buy that one anyway. I am very weary about buying a used clutch.

Edit: but 150 is more than half the price of a new Exedy... and he says only about 4k on it, which would make this deal seem like a steal. But I have no way to confirm that it only has 4k on it.

Forget the 4K milage, how many 6K RPM clutch drops did he do? Could you have him measure the thickness and find out what it was new or somthing?

Well that's the thing, I can't verify that there is only 4k on it or how it was used. A clutch is a major component of my car, so I think I'll just buy a new one.
