Default Buying WRX soon

I am selling my outback soon, hopefully, and I have been looking at WRX's at the Reno dealer.

I have not talked price with the salesmen. I am wondering where you all have purchased your cars and if you got a good deal or not.

Thanks for any information.

Anyone interested in a 98 Outback?? LOL!

Welcome aboard Let it rev...
Yeah, most of us have purchased from Lithia, I would say that overall, they've treated everyone here pretty good. Good luck on your purchase, you'll be happy for sure.

Hi there,

I know a dealer in Sac that gave me a pretty good quote for a 2004 WRX
with a premium package. His name is Zeke Wong of Maita Subaru [22358@leadmanager.webedge.com]. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the board!

I got my car at Lithia... but I wouldn't say they treated me all that well. I've had problems with the service department over there. Plus their old finance manager was a complete snake... now that he's gone things are a bit better. Most the guys are cool people, but they're still car salemen, and all the stereotypes still apply to some extent... don't go in there expecting rainbows, sunshine, and free Subarus!

Lithia sales team was okay. Their service department is complete crap. But if you go there, talk to a John St. Clair. He is a great guy.

I have no problem going to another dealer. When I shopped for the Outback I ended up getting it for 500 over invoice from the dealer in Shingle Springs. The Reno dealer wouldn't budge.

The Shingle Springs dealer did try to play some number games with me however. I noticed it when I got home, threatened to turn them in and they quickly made it right.

The premium package is nice but with the sunroof, my 6'2" frame doesn't fit. My head touches the roof!

I guess you can open the sunroof so that your head won't touch the roof j/k

There are some dealers that sell the '04's around invoice. You can ask for a free quote from them through www.subaru.com. Just find a dealer close by, check their inventory and if you see something you like, ask for a quote. Others will price match also.

Good luck with the search.

I bought my first Subaru (an Impreza Outback) from Michael Hohl Honda Subaru. Mike Weaver gave me a really good deal on the car. He'd be the guy you want to talk to, if you feel like heading down to Carson.

I bought my 03 Sedan last January. I got it for 23,395. I'm not sure what the invoice was but I got a killer APR from them and I just stuck it out till the end. They didn't know I had the staminia to sit there for hours haggling over stuff. Looking back I should have tried more to get free stuff like the oil change thing and body kit or stuff like that but my expierence wasn;t too bad. It was my first time buying a new car. But I had went to many other dealers trying out my buying skills just so I would not be out of touch to how the system works. If you have'nt bought car in a while I would go in for a test run before actually buying one. If can leave and give them the feeling you are almost ready to buy you might have a chance at a better price but's that's are theory. The guy who posts on this Site under the name Dean has some good car buying information hopefully he will put in his input.

I bought the consumers reports auto buying service & found out what the dealer price & holdbacks were -- and dealt with lithia starting with the internet sales option. David Wolpe was (probably still is) the internet sales mgr, and dealt with me fairly, hard not to do when the customer has the numbers in hard copy form. The only grudge i have about the buying experience was the stupid window 'security' etching that is supposedly required, that they would not budge on. Michael Hohl was the same way.

Also with Michael Hohl not too far away -- if you want to dicker prices, you can find out from both what they'd sell to you out the door for. If they balk, let them know the competition will deal with you over the phone - that worked for me. (They both did deal with me over the phone & via email.)

I walked out with the price I wanted here with Lithia.
