Just in short detail what does it take to install a fmic? im buying one for pretty cheap off a guy.

Like do you have to rip the front end off or what?

Take out your tmic. Remove bumper. Other things. Install fmic.

I may be a little wrong...but have fun with the lag on the TD04 with a front mount!

I wouldnt install it until I had the VF39 in.

still gonna be pretty laggy. Your going to need a short ram intake as well, the stock airbox blocks the path of the ic piping.

At least you have a 2.5L but I'd wouldn't do a FMIC on a VF series turbo. Too small to justify the lag. I think FMIC's require removal or modification of the front bumper beam usually too.

Just buy it. Then if you determine its not going to work with your setup you can sell it and at least get your money back.

For the price i might as well buy it. haha. I guess i could sell it if i decide it's not worth it. but im not sure if i want to drive to cali to get. Thanks for the help guys.

Which brand/type is it? I have had 3 FMIC's on my personal car (for parts development reasons) and have helped a couple others with theirs.

The bumper cover must be removed and trimmed to fit around the core. The bumper beam is removed and replaced by a mounting bracket or a smaller bumper beam. Sometimes an adaptor is needed to get your BOV/BPV to work. T-bolt clamps are recommended for all couplings. The fuel lines sometimes have to be mod'd.

A shortram is not absolutely necessary with an FMIC. I have done cold-air intakes for APS, Perrin, WBR, SSAC, TXS, CXRacing, and some custom ones too.

Speaking of BOV. PecoFC was selling an HKS SSQV that was already welded to intercooler piping. You should send him a message to see if he still has it.

That is the smaller FMIC as far as I can see. It is the easiest one on the market to install. No removal or cutting of the bumper beam is needed, and the bumper cover does not need much trimming. The core is also "small" which makes it a good match for VF-series turbos up to about 300whp. You won't have as much "lag" or throttle response issues as the normal bigger ones.

Later on you could upgrade the core and reuse the piping if you go bigger than 300whp.

That FMIC will work with most short rams and many CAI's. I can build you a budget intake and/or even do an open source conservative road tune for a reasonable price. I also have a budget import downpipe if you need it (as I think you were looking for one a while back).

Yes, I sell them regularly. Have lots in stock for 06/07. Also working on some cool undertrays that go in place of the removed factory splitter: louvers, scoops to direct all the air to/from the turbo, or a reverse scoop that draws air out but keeps the rain off the engine.
