Khail rules.
I dropped by Napa over the weekend to see if I could find some gasket material to finally rid myself of that damned up-pipe leak. I saw Khails "WRS" parked outside, so I was like... sweeeet.
Anyway, Khail and his coworked parsed through their catalog trying to find me something that would work that was cheaper than the $70 for a sheet of flexible graphite. Low and behold Khail found this ceramic looking stuff that said it was "sutable for exhaust and turbo gasket applications"... sounds just about right, right? Well, it was $22... but since I "work for Alpine Roofing" according to Khails buddy... $8.. cha-ching!! So I took that shit home and went to work with various tools, trying to cut my own gaskets... Hole-saw? doesn't work. Roto-Zip? doesn't work. Dremel? doesn't work. Cordless Drill? doesn't work. So, after I ran out of power tools... I grabbed my scissors. They work. F-me and my power tool mentality! It took 6 failures before I actually cut out a pair of useable gaskets. So I dropped the header, and wedged a pair of these gaskets in there. Torqued everything back up. Then hit the test drive. No leaks!!! Went from a cool engine to a hot-as-hell engine and I hear zero leaks. Then this morning, gave it a good push on a really cold motor (which I normally avoid doing) and it still didn't leak. I think I may *finally* have this up-pipe leak licked!! Oh, and I can drop the passenger side header in literally 2 minutes now that I've practiced it so much over the last 6 months. Thanks a ton Khail!! Hey, you need to show up to the next meet, we got new people that haven't seen the WRS.

Meets? We have meets?

Scott,
I'm glad that stuff worked out for you. And if it makes you feel any better, I wouldn't have tried scissors first either. ZERO26D, It shouldn't be a problem as long as you bring the receipt. We don't stock too many NGK plugs, but I'm sure we can order the ones you need if we don't have them. I work at the Napa on Wrondel, except for Sunday. I'm at the Glendale store Sunday, and I'm off Wednesday and Thursday. Swing by and I'll see if I can help you out. |

Hey Khail,
Do either of the Napa stores you're at have parts for building an STi Projector wiring harness? More specifically, I need a 9007 adapter (would be the same as a 9007 light bulb) and a 9005 connector (plugs into a 9005 bulb): I know I can order from NASIOC vendors, but at $50 and up... that seems a little steep for somthing I can make myself in 10 minutes.

I'll see what I can find tomorrow at work. I think we have the 9005 plug, but the 9007 adapter will be the tricky part.

Well, I found 9005 plugs, but it looks like you already got those. I saw nothing for 9007 plugs, though. Somebody must make them, but I don't know who.
