Why don't you just play the game in GT mode and earn some cars You can't be spending all your time on the challenge, only sperry does that

That's what I am doing. I'm okay with not changing a thing if that is the consencus. If sombody (RE: me) can't compete because of completion percentage, we'll just have to sit it out. Thing is, sombody who has the most competion could just make the challenge with a car only they have...

Even without a save game you start with over 200 cars in arcade mode, I don't see any problems with just using some of those cars.

So guys would be okay with a rule that basically said, if you boot up sans memory card and the car and track are unavailable, it's not a valid challenge? What about the $100K cap on GT challenges I suggested? Do you guys forsee any other issues if sombody made a challenge to be run in GT mode? If we're worried about being able to trust people to not cheat, we could just say all challenges have to be in Arcade mode. Thoughts, opinions, feelings?

The only problem I have is that I don't know how much $100k is in my l33t JDM game.

Couldn't you find out? I wonder if there is a conversion that would hold true for all mods?

I suspect it is probably something like 100:1, we can check when we actually run the GT race.

Lol, and 100k is a shit ass load to put into a car in that game. And aren't they just Credits (Cr) anyway? So it would be universal?

My only concern is that a lot of the really cool/fun/quirkey/fast cars aren't in the base 200. The base list is almost entirely street cars, which isn't a huge deal, but I don't want to race every challenge on street tires. In fact most of the base cars are just different revisions of each other... how many civics are listed under Honda for example?

Anyway, I'd suggest people that want to compete should make an effort to complete more of the game. And the people picking the challenges should try to stick to the cars/tracks that are more readily available. But I'd avoid making hard and fast rules about what cars we have to use.

What if we said you could only pick cars that are easily attainable when you're 25% through the game, or somthing?

I'm actually trying to find a list... but the cars aren't available simply by %... you have to unlock the arcade cars by winning the specific event in GT mode.

Right, but if we said you could only pick cars and tracks easily attainable when you're 25% through the game and with only the A and B licenses, it would be possible for people to quickly beat whatever event is necessary to unlock that car/track. Yes, no?

Too bad you can't unlock cars by playing Arcade mode like you could in GT3...or can you?

You're missing the point... 25% is not the same for everyone. I'm at like 60% (IIRC), but I have virtually zero rally cars, because I don't play the rally side of the game much. So just because I'm way further in the game than you doesn't mean you can't easily pick something that's gonna take me 10 hours of driving to get.

I think we're actually over analyzing this... I think the 48 hour rule will be fine... start a challenge, chances are people will have the car... if you don't and you can't get it easily, then you have 48 hours to get the challenger to change it to something else. The whole point is to have fun and competition, picking a car that no one has isn't fun... Plus I don't think this will be a regular problem.

I don't think I missed any point. I was just going by the last night's scenario where if I had 25% completion, I could have simply started an endurance race and been good to go with the existing challenge. If sombody makes a rally challenge (which I probably will do if I ever win ) that requires you to unlock a certain car, couldn't you just beat the required event fairly quickly?

Maybe, maybe not... if I need a fast rally car to win the necessary event, then I'd probably have to win not just the one race, but several.

Or, more generally, if the car someone picks is a prize car for an endurance race or a long series, then even having gone far in the game, it may not be possible to "easily" win the car for the challenge... that's the mistake I made in picking the R92CP... it's an endurance race car.

Not only do you have to get to 25% to get to the endurance races, you also have to win a 4 hour race! Since I intend to beat the game w/o ever using B-spec mode, having to win a 24 hour race (for and extreme example) just to compete in the SECCS challenge doesn't seem reasonable.

Okay. Is everybody cool with Sperry's rule then? Complain before 48 hours and the rule maker for that challenge has to come up with a challenge that is available to all that are playing?

I'm slightly more in favor of saying if you can't do it sans memory card, don't assign it, but I think we should leave it to a vote.

Hahaha, I know people that do that, only use A-spec. That's nuts, I just don't have that kinda time or dedication. They took like 4 6 hour shifts with 4 people. Also, doing the 24h races with B-spec and leaving my PS on fucked up my original disk. It scarred the surfaces basically.
