That about sums it up for me too. Better movie than 1 & 2, but still not worthy of being called Star Wars.

I think it was definitely worth the price of admission. If an opportunity to go again comes up, I probably will. Basically, I thought the things that were right outweighed the things that were wrong significantly.

Good stuff:
-the lightsaber duels all looked real, and natural. It was easy to watch them and not see the actors overanticipating the next move, like moving to bolck a swing that hasn't happened yet, then waiting for it, like Episode IV and V had rampantly. Obi Wan vs. Anakin in particular looked great.
-the emperor (Ian McDiarmid) was outstanding. He'll never get it, but I think he deserves the first Supporting Actor nomination from a Star Wars film. He was one of the most eveil villians ever in a movie, and, with the minor exception of some bits of dialogue with Anakin, was never forced or corny or not believable.
-this film did the best job of creating emotion without going over the top. Anakin mowing down apprentices with a lightsaber? Freakin harsh man. Padme's struggles with her emotions and loyalties played out well I thought. No way to make us doubt that she would choose the Republic over Anakin, but there was the right amount of doubt and denial before she made the choice.
-Obi-Wan was finally the badass we've always been expected to belive he is. I thought Ewan McGregor did the best job of looking like a near-invincible Jedi without the over-the-top cockiness and swagger that Sam Jackson was forced to give Mace Windu. I think Obi-Wan far outshines Luke Skywalker as a movie hero.
-The special effects were very good by not standing out too much as obvious special effects. Story and events took precedence over digital eye candy for the most part, except for the opening space battle. The volcanic world of the final duel was really well rendered, but was still the setting and not made a bigger part of the scenes than it needed to be. It was believable and real and wasn't relied upon too strongly as an element of the duel.
-corny one liners. I thought most of them were great, especially some of Obi-Wan's. Star Wars has always been a B movie series, and I like not having oscar-quality dialog sometimes. The were a few moments of comic relief that I thought worked better than in any other one of the films. Yoda tossing two Red Guards against the wall entering the Emperor's chamber was way better than anything C3PO ever said.
-It was crucial that we see that Anakin finally fully trusted Obi-Wan's wisdom and guidance, and was his best friend. I thought that was sorely missing toward the end of Episode II, and if not for that, the final duel would have been far less important other than Anakin being dismembered and disfigured.

Bad things:
-Count Dooku and General Grievous kinda got robbed of some mystique. Anakin killing Dooku wasn't supposed to be difficult, but I think Christopher Lee is the next best thing to happen to the whole series besides Ian McDiarmid. I wanted a few more moments of him in full grandeur. Grievous was really robbed if you've seen the Clone Wars cartoons. there's clearly a lot to be explained in the second "season" of them. At the end of the first, he dominated some of the higher order Jedis, all at once. Now, he's weezing and coughing, and never stands a chance against Obi-Wan, even by 'cheating.' I wanted to see him kick some ass before going down too.
-Anakin becomes Darth Vader a little abruptly. There needed to be one more intermediate step between "I want to save Padme" and "You're the Sith Lord!" It was hard to believe that Anakin wouldn't have been shocked out of his loyalty to the Chancellor at that moment. However, it does set the stage well for his betrayal of the Emperor in Jedi. It never really made sense before... there was no real solid explanation for his sudden lack of evilness until now. Also, in order to 'properly' explain something as complex as turning a dedicated Jedi to the Dark Side, it would have taken up far too much of the movie, which was a huge reason the first one sucked ass and the second one just wasn't very good. I'd rather have to abbreviate Anakin -> Vader than make the rest of the film suffer instead.
-I was hoping they would take away R2D2's ability to fly before the end of III. Making that possible was really dumb, but if he'd gotten smashed up or something, it would be easier to accept him rolling off the ramp behind C3PO or into the swamp on Dagoba later.
-Padme "lost her will to live"? Dude, she just had 2 babies... you can come up with something better than that. It wouldn't be that hard to make her die slowly enough that Luke and Leia could be born.
-Anakin killing Dooku either should have conflicted him less, or not at all. Shame and regret over the act of killing an unarmed prisoner would have swayed him away from joining Palpatine, not the other way around. It should have been more like when he went after the Sand People.

All in all, I thought it was worthy. Almost made up for the failure of the other two. Maybe not as good as Empire, but still good in its own right. Besides, I got my Jedi-on-Jedi violence fix.

haha, i just saw starwars last night. I'm a huge fan of star wars and even have the whole Rare set of the cards.. worth quite a bit of money now.. but anyhow, it was much better than the retarded episode 1 and 2.. but not close to as good as IV or V.

The only thing that got me kinda mad was, "darth vader" was supposed to be the "savior" or the chosen one right.. he's supposed to have all of this bad ass power and be THE man u know? but then he get's beat by Obi-wan.. wtf? dont understand that.

Someone posted that obi-wan was the superhero dude.. yoda is the sh*t! Anyone try the Darth Dew at 7-11? terrible.. haha

"Darth Dew" sound like something that collects in Vader's pants when he overloads the A/C in his suit while walking around on Tatooine.

I thought it was Padme's version of the Honeydew list.

clearly this film does not deserve that much analysis.

Star Wars is supposed to be an action/adventure flick with some feelings.

The way I look at it is, was I entertained enough to wonder what was going to happen next.

Did the characters show enough feeling to leave you wanting to hear from them in another scene.

No and No.
