The way the system works, the blockages you found *could* cause problems elsewhere, but not with the filling of the fuel system. Those lines are completely separate of the filling action. Again, hopefully you knocked out your problem by chance, and you won't have any more issues with fillup.

What's the side effect of taking the charcoal out of that canister? Seems like it won't be scrubbing the vapor very well....

Removing charcoal from the canister will do exactly that: not clean fuel vapors as well. It won't really have any big or noticable effect, unless you were to remove ALL of the charcoal, but essentially, it's ability to store and deplete hydrocarbons has decreased.

^ok so I should still be ok with the amount that is left? or should I think about purchasing a new one in the future. And its not that I removed the charcoal from the box, it just came out as soon as I poked the fuel tank hole with a screw driver. Which it shouldnt just come out like that unless its defective imo. And again I only assume because I dont know how that works.

AH, you didn't pry it out, but it fell out... You may have a bad evap canister as well. I still say it is not the cause of the fueling issue, as the two systems (the evap system and the filler system) are separate and unconnected.

Looking at the picture of the water bottle with charcoal in it, if that's ALL that you got out of it, I wouldn't worry much about lowering it's capability to do it's job, but you may have issues down the road if it pukes up more.

Performance issues or my cell phone ringing when I am pumping gas and my face blowing off issues?

Naw, none of that. Really, nothing that you'd notice driving the car either. It runs the risk of venting to the engine, and plugging up one of the check valves. It won't give any performance problems, but you'll get a check eng. light, and have to replace the Evap Engine Purge valve. It won't be able to get to your motor though.

I'm about to have a complete evap system off my car. I already have the valve and some other bits from under the hood, and once I get my car back, the whole canister and related crap in the rear is coming off as well.
