But seriously, you won't have any problems on the outside of the fender; you may want to hit the inside with a coat of clear just to seal up any cracks that develop. I rolled mine with a bat first, so they're a bit torn up on the inside, but on a newer car with the right tool, and a heat gun, we should be able to keep any paint damage to a minimum.
I got a heat gun.
I got the beer!

I will be out of town this weekend (Family trip to San Diego) so I guess I will miss out on this one If for some reason you need more time putting your car together next weekend would work

I know I'm only one of many so if I need to wait for another trip......I could

I'm sure I'll be able to work out another trip. You shouldn't need wide rubber until spring anyways

Battlewagon had the motor in the hole last night, we're waiting on timing cover gaskets. Everything else should go quickly, we've just been waiting on parts. Speculataion is that the dealer who did the headgaskets at 120k left out the timing cover gaskets, as well as a frickin' valve spring seat (which is why I had valve problems on #3, but whatever)

Should be done by about 9-10:00 this morning, then I just have to adjust the suspension, swap wheels, and load up for the trip

That kind of crap is why I hate letting somebody else wrench on the ride. Dealer mechanics seem to be one step below having work-rehab prisoners do the repairs.

Wagon rides again!

Bump for Updatez###### No Fender Rolling this weekend...

Fender rolling is cancelled for now...Aaron's tranny has blown out, so he has no way to get up here, with the equipment and wheels he needs to bring...We'll reschedule for a couple of weeks down the road, that will give a few who wanted to roll fenders a chance to get on board...

So...No go for this weekend...

Yeah.
I'm happy too, heh.
I'm really sorry about blowing the plans for this weekend, we didn't foresee any tranny issues, but it's also the longest the car has sat undriven in the past 6 years, so, eh, whatever.

Ah well, shit happens.
It just happens all at once when you've got 175k hard miles on a car.

Speculation is that when we pulled out the tranny today to swap out the rear main seal again (that blew out on startup yesterday) that all the crap I had worn off/shaved off/broken off in the tranny got shaken up and jostled around, and as soon as we started the car, even after changing fluid, it shelled out all the internal pumps and crap.

We've got a hookup with a tranny shop who's helping me out, and we'll be revalving and raising line pressure as we rebuild it to really make it pop.

On the plus side, the motor runs and sounds great, pulls nice (when it's not making the tranny slip to all hell) and will be the supreme dopeness once we get the header-back on.

So, another little delay, but I'll be back in action soon, and with what amounts to a new drivetrain, which, while it's not the STi swap I wanted, will revitalize the car for quite a while and keep me from doing something stupid like buying a new Leg Turbo until they come with a 6-speed. Shooting for coming up to Reno with toys and tools in tow the second weekend in November (the 13th or something), if that sounds workable.

We can rebuild her. We have the technology.

Eh, when it rains, it pours. I'll come out of this with a much more reliable, slightly faster car, so I can't complain

How goes the car?

Is it going to be ready for a fender rolling party this weekend, or next?

Ko-wrecked.

Car is getting the tranny built this week, and I'm leaving for SEMA today and not coming back till Sunday. The next week is the awards banquet, and I'll be up the weekend after (before Thanksgiving) for fender rolling and the SECCS bar

Bizump, it's true, the battle wagon is rolling (under it's own power, even ) and I'll be coming up the weekend of the 20th for fender rolling and festivities.

Scott, can I crash at your place?

Where/when should we do the rolling? I'm thinking Saturday, whenever everybody gets up

We'll plan on Scott's place, since half of us will be there anyways

Anyone who can bring a jack or jackstands, do it, as we've got the get the cars off the ground and the wheels off to bolt the tool on.
