Heavy Duty Shockproof is *BAD* for WRX trannys!!! Way too thick. Like, it will ruin your tranny with a quickness, too thick. The proper shockproof for Subaru trannys is the "Lightweight", straight up, or mixed 50/50 with redline 75w90ns if you're worried about bearing longevity.

Just an FYI, mine had the lightweight shockproof installed at S2 after the incident at RFR. THat is probably the only reason it was able to drive broken as long as it did.

I had about 4 different oils over the life of the car, the best was redline lightweight shockproof, the blue stuff. Double clutching sometimes worked, but usually not

I think I just got stuck with a worse than average box. Tyson's WRX transmission is the sweetest shifting box ever, it is nicer than the STi tranny. Luck of the draw I guess.

Sperry, good to know. A bunch of guys on WRXF run the HD in hot climates. They complain that it's hard to shift on cold mornings before the car warms up. I can't comment from personal experience as I had mine changed at the dealer, but I did intend to use the LD based on this climate.

The heavyduty would probably be okay for a dedicated drag car or something, but that stuff is supposedly too thick to properly lube the bearings. I imagine you'd generate a ton of heat on the freeway.

There's a guy in Truckee that finds exactly what you're looking for and gets the car for you at a pretty good price. That's why it's being delivered. I'm going nuts waiting for it.
